Maze of Demise Project

Chapter 6

A/N : My ideas for this story changed a bit so this'll be a mix of horror,mystery,thriller AND adventure-fantasy. Sorry bout that~ Tell me what you think in the comments ;D I also added a pic of what the gameboard looks like. Sorry if the drawing was a bit crappy XD I'll try to add the pics of the characters next time once me and my friend finishes drawing them all.

Stan's P.O.V

I spun the arrow on the spinner. Here we go,our first challenge! A few seconds later and the arrow landed on a number.

3. Well,that was a small start. We all heard a meowing sound. New card,I guess. I took a look at the plushie's card. "Congrats! You have chosen Challenge#3 of the First Round. This challenge's goal is to find all 8 puzzle pieces hidden around the school and destroying all the monsters. The time limit is 23 hours. The moment you step out of the room will be the start of your quest. Please pick 1 weapon only and 1 helper tool. Get ready. Good luck~" -- the card read.

Wait,monsters?! We're supposed to kill monsters?! With weapons?! What're we supposed to use as a weapon in this room,a broom and a bucket?! I shook my head. Don't think like this,Stan. Be positive. I mean,frying pans can serve as a weapon,why not a broom?

I took a look at my friends. They were as surprised and worried as I was. Of course we'd all be worried. We're high schoolers,not warriors. I wonder how killing a monster would feel like though? For some reason,it excites me. This'll be one fun quest. Not too fun if someone dies though....

"What's with the puzzle piece search?" Tyler asked,annoyed.

"It's probably some extra challenge." I said. "Finding puzzle pieces in this huge school is a real difficult task you know."

Suddenly, a large black treasure chest appeared in front of all of us. I opened the lid only to see a bunch of weapons inside. Guns,rifles,swords,knives....you name it,we got it. There's a bunch of talismans and smoke-bombs too. These must be the helper tools. Where did all of this come anyway?

"Maybe this is like an rpg game." I blurted out. "Weapons for the newbies,I guess."

"Free weapons,huh?" Tyler said,picking up a knife. "This is one cool game."

"A cool game where death is real,yeah! Real cool!" Nico said sarcastically.

"Who cares?! We get to kill a monster!" Summer said excitedly. We're the same,huh?

"You get to kill a monster, IF you survive." Nico said.

"Don't be a killjoy,Nico." I told him. "We've got to play this game no matter what so might as well enjoy it."

I took a glinting red sword from the box. It was a little light and easy to carry.

Summer took something out of the chest. "What is this? A flashlight?" She said. She clicked on the switch and out came an energy blade. "Woah! It's a light saber! Awesomeee!"

Wow,wish I could've chose that one. But this red sword seems pretty nice too,I guess. I saw Nico take a silver sword. He dragged it around and accidentally dropped it a few times. Looks like that one's a bit too heavy. Robin took a bow and a quiver containing a lot of arrows. June took a flamethrower and Tyler took that knife-blade he was staring at earlier.

Shamira looked around inside the chest and finally chose a shotgun. Lastly,Mica took out a pistol.

"Um,Mica? Do you know how to use that?" June asked,concerned.

"Of course I do!" Mica grinned mischieviously. "My dad taught me how to use a gun,you know?" Wow,this is the second time I've seen her grin like that. The first time was when we pranked Tyler together last time.

"O-okay then!" June said immediately looking away from Mica. Mica gets really scary when she's acting hyper and June,well...seems to be afraid of her. "How about you,sis? Are you fine with that?"

Shamira held the shot gun with confidence. "Heh,of course! I play a lot of shooting games so I'll be fine!"

"Alright then." I said. "Is everyone okay with their weapons?" Everyone nodded except Nico who kept trying to lift his sword. "Um,Nico?"

"Shut up! I can do this!" Nico replied,struggling to carry the sword. I laughed a bit,making him glare at me. I rummaged inside the chest,taking out a light silver sword. I tossed it to Nico ,who miraculously caught it. "Try this."

Nico lifted his new sword in ease,swaying it around. "Heh,told you I can do it."

"Idiot." I said,sighing and shaking my head. "Since everyone's got weapons now,it's time to pick out some helper tools."

I took a bunch of talismans,not sure if they'll be helpful though. Nico took some rope and Summer got a flashlight. I don't know why but there were paper clips in the chest and Mica took it. Shamira got a water gun. Tyler got some smoke bombs while June got a shield. Damn,if only I found that shield first....

Now that you think about it,most of those help tools are like useless except the shield. I mean,we're fighting a monster! How can those help? Well,maybe they have some importance in finding those puzzle pieces.

We took one last look at the chest and found 8 walky-talkies for each of us. Perfect! This'll help. A note was sticked to the walky-talkies,"A gift to you all." it read.

"Let's rest a bit guys." I told them. " 1 hour of strategy planning and energy saving and then afterwards,let's slay some beasts."

Everyone agreed. We all gathered at the table to discuss our strategy plans. We'll split up in groups of 4. 2 people for each team. It's a little dangerous but since we had a communication device,we could try to regroup once something goes wrong. After a little talk,we decided who's going with who.

Now then! Let the monster (and puzzle piece) hunt begin!!
