{Dalton's POV}
My eyes peeked open at the sound of my alarm. I turned over to see my little brother twiddling his thumbs. He never got up and off the couch until I was up. We hopped off the couch and rushed to the kitchen to whip up breakfast before school."Graham, what do you want for breakfast today, make it something quick, we gotta head to school bud."
"I-I want a bagel. With cr-cream cheese."
Hearing him stutter broke my heart. I knew how hard it was for him to meet new kids in school and get along with kids his age. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was born, and after tons of treatment, it's still there and affecting him in a ton of ways. As a family, we decided that it was best to keep it between us two. I quickly made him a cream cheesed bagel, wrapped it in foil, and handed it to him. We both got dressed, and headed to my car.
I dropped him off at the elementary school closest to our house. He got out of the car, and waddled his way into school. Just as I was pulling away, I realized something that I would never wish upon anyone.
Graham was being held up against the wall by his neck. I stormed out of my car and slammed the car door behind me. When I got closer, I heard the words they were saying to him. I felt my face getting heated and my teeth clenching. My fingernails dug into my palm.
I saw a kid, he couldn't be more than 9 or 10, holding Graham against the wall. His voice was quite girly, "he-he-hey G-Gr-Graham. How does it feel to be a freak? The only kid in this school that cannot speak normal."
Just as I approached, I saw tears streaming down his face. It broke me. My voice began to crack as I spoke up.
"HEY. Back off my brother, and DON'T make me come back here."All the kids scattered, and went to class. I gave my little brother a hug, and told him to stay strong as he slowly walked up the stairs and entered school.
I ran back to my car, and hurried off, to avoid being late for school.
When I pulled up to school, I saw a crowd of girls and guys surrounding this one girl, I couldn't make out who it was. I brushed it off my shoulder and got out of my car to walk into school.
I saw my friend Logan coming my way from the corner of my eye. I avoided him, considering it was a rough morning. I kept replaying the incident with Graham. It made me more angry than anything.
I darted into school and into first period.
