{Skye's POV}
My heart was beating out of my chest, but I knew I had to remove myself from the awkward situation I got myself into.I heard a voice creeping up from behind me as I turned around to walk away. "Hey, I never got your name! Hello?" His voice made my palms sweat, I knew what I was in for if I didn't get out of here soon. I speed walked away from him. I didn't feel like dealing from rejection right now. I made my way out of the school parking lot, to my bike parked across the street at the library.
Late sophomore year, some kids decided to steal my bike when I kept it on the rack outside school, now I have a new one, and I keep it across the street, no one needs to know.
I never got the luxury of going on driving with parents, or taking lessons. I passed my written test, I've just never been behind the wheel. When you have parents that only care about themselves, it's hard to be like all the other kids in school. I buy my own clothes and food, I don't have a license, material things don't matter much to me anyway.
I couldn't stop myself from thinking about the boy I ran into. He was one of the popular kids in school, and just by looking at him, I can tell why. He has eyes like an ocean, and a calming voice, not to mention that he is completely toned. I hated him. All of him. He became popular and loved in the snap of a finger. He was just a stupid new kid, that all the girls fell in love with. It wasn't fair.
I got on my bike, and rode home.
By the time I reached home, I could already hear the screaming from outside the door. I felt a tear fall down my cheek, knowing I wasn't ready for another day of this. I walked around through the back of our raggedy house, and attempted to sneak in through the back door.
It was fine, until I tried to walk upstairs to my room.
"Skye, get back in here and say hi to us!" Just by the tone of his voice and the way he was slurring his words I knew he had been drinking. Great.
I didn't think to turn around, I just yelled back down the stairs, and told him I'll come down later. I wasn't feeling well, I just wanted to go to my room and lay down. Thankfully, he didn't come after me like he usually did.
