The horses' hooves stampede the ground as I steered in the middle of the group.

I was on the back of a smokey grey looking gelding, he was pretty cute and I was enjoying the ride.

As we closer approached the massive walled off settlement, the giant wooden doors began to slowly creep open.

We walked straight through, glancing over at Ellie and Joel.

They both looked nervous. I am too.

I'd also be nervous if I was Joel, what if his brother was not here? What then?

I turned my gaze back forward as I took in the town.

Big buildings and houses, fairy lights strung around them as people gathered the streets to watch the group trot back through.

My eyes scanned the crowds, looking for anyone who looked even a little like Joel.

But it seemed like he found him before me.

"Tommy!" Joel's voice boomed, leaping off his horse and running for his brother

The other man turned from the high beam platform he was working on and when he was Joel, came rushing down the staircase.

The two men locked contact, laughing and hugging each other tightly.

"What the fuck you doin' here?" Tommy called, releasing from the cradle as his hands rested on Joel's shoulders.

"I came here to save you."

The rest of the people on horses began to move off towards where I assumed they kept the animals.

I looked back behind me at Ellie, who looked sad at the sight of the two brothers reunited.

I presumed that was because she didn't want to lose Joel. I didn't either but, as long as he was happy then I didn't care.

"Come on," I spoke to her, motioning my head forward as I held my reins forward, clicking my tongue and kicking my horse's sides gently to get a move on, forcing him into a smooth trot.

Ellie followed on after.

We sat in the great hall, dinner plates in front of us.

I wasn't really feeling hungry so I was just picking at the food with the fork, but Ellie certainly felt differently.

While she scoffed down her food beside me I observed the room, lit up by fairy lights just like outside.

It had a rustic barn vibe. I liked it.

"There's more if you need it." The woman sitting across from Ellie spoke, referring to the food.

"Thank you, ma'am." Joel spoke up for Ellie "It's been a while since we've had a proper meal."

"Actually, I don't think I've ever had a proper meal." Ellie gumbled with her mouth full of food "This is fuckin' amazing."

"Sorry." I murmured to Tommy and the woman, placing my fork down on my plate

"Ellie, let's mind our manners." Joel said, shoving some of his food into his mouth too.

I looked back down to my plate, picking up the cold silver utensil again and starting to pick up the spaghetti but was interrupted before I could put it in my mouth by Ellie on my right who yelled out something.

"What?" She called out to someone in the distance.

I shot her an unimpressed glare before swinging around my head to check out who she was yelling at, spotting a girl around our age quickly dashing away
