When you woke up the next morning, grateful that you'd remembered to draw the curtains, you enjoyed your usual long stretch, staring at the ceiling and wondering if it all had been a dream. Your unsettled stomach was proof that no, it unfortunately had not been a dream, and your thoughts immediately turned to Crosshair as you reached for your comm.

"Good morning," a smooth voice crooned from the corner, although it had an edge to it that startled you even more than the fact that someone was in your room. After a gasp and a few expletives, you sat up, squinting at where Crosshair had apparently taken a seat in the large armchair that was mostly for holding clothes. He was perched on top of them, legs crossed, tilted head resting on one elbow. He looked tired, but his civilian clothes and sharp gaze had you tingling in admiration, even now.

"What in the Twilight are you doing?!" you asked, rubbing your face as though it would help you to understand. "The door was locked! How did you--"

"Tech helped."

"Ah." Nothing more needed to be said in that area, but you still had a million questions. It was just a lot to deal with when you'd just woken up. "Listen, I'm so sorry about last night... I should have known--"

"Ssshhh. Not yet. Caff on your nightstand. Take your time. I'll be in the living room." And without waiting for your reply, he got up and sauntered out. You were truly baffled. There was an unmistakable prickliness to him, much like the plant near the window, that gave you a distinct sense of foreboding. It was reminiscent of when you were a child, and you knew you were going to get in trouble but your parent wasn't addressing it just yet. Trying to choke down the sense of dread, you shifted your eyes to the nightstand, where one of your own mugs was steaming. Despite the confusion, a little warmth blossomed in your chest at the considerate act. You took a few sips, trying to breathe deeply and get yourself centered, but you couldn't wait any longer. Leaving your silky tank top and shorts on instead of getting dressed, you brushed your teeth quickly and headed for the living room, where Crosshair stood looking out the window.

"Hey," you said softly, approaching him from behind. You wanted to hug him, but it felt dangerous. He was emanating an intense energy that left you feeling wildly insecure and unstable. He turned, slowly, keeping his eyes on the floor, then took a deep breath and lifted them to your face. "I'm sorry about all of that. It was absolutely stupid. I don't know what I was thinking." You paused for a moment, trying to glean any sort of response from his expressionless face. "But... you were incredible..." you offered invitingly.

"Clearly, you weren't thinking. At all," he hissed, and the venom in his voice was chilling. You took a step back, as though his words alone had hit you physically. But he wasn't done. "Do you NEED credits? Either of you? Or are you so bored with your cushy little lives up here that you need a little danger every now and then? Did you LIKE that?" His voice was raising, eyes flashing, and his height suddenly seemed imposing.

"Look, I told you it was--"

"You don't get it, do you? You have NO IDEA what could have happened. They could have captured you, done unspeakable things to both of you, and then thrown your dead bodies in the dumpster out back. You are so clueless about the rest of the world! And you think it's just a playground that you can meddle in, for your own entertainment, with no thought of the risk or consequences?" His loud verbal barrage was dizzying, causing you to furrow your brow even as the bewilderment washed across your face. Your fear turned into anger as he took a breath, finally allowing you space to jump in.

"Where do you get off, barging in here first thing in the morning and scolding me like a child?!" you yelled, puffing yourself up a bit. "I'm not--"

"I'm scolding you like a child because you ACTED like a child. The danger that you let that idiot put you in..."
