in a good mood, may was marching through the forest. she was going to enter a contest soon, and she was going to get her first ribbon of the year!

of course, she knew the competition would be tough, but she was going to put her all into it like she always did.

the sun was shining through the trees that towered above May, revealing smaller bits of shadow all across the place.

may inhaled, taking a deep breath of the fresh air. the air smelled so nice, the sun shone bright and everything that moment just felt so right!

until—

'ari!'

may turned around and spotted an ariados in the tree above her. startled by the large spider pokémon, she took a step backwards.

at first the ariados didn't appear threatening, as it was staring at her calmly. but suddenly, when she didn't expect it, the ariados used string shot, aiming right at may.

may couldn't act before she was completely wrapped up in the string shot. she felt like screaming, not aware of what she had done— but instead she got only more scared when she was wrapped around the very treebranch of that tree.

'huh?' may gasped, looking at the strings wrapped around her. she was surely a few feet above the ground, and there was nothing she could do!

groaning, she tried to reach for her fannypack. but, unfortunately, with her arms stuck, she could barely even move. sweatdropping, she wondered how to get out of there, and why she even got attacked in the first place

did she scare the ariados? but she was deadly quiet! with her teeth clenched she felt the adrenaline rise to her stomach.

the ariados crawled down from the tree, stood right in front of may and let out a sort of cackle, as if it were laughing at the unhandy position may was in.

may, still frightened from the height, was about to question the ariados why it attacked her — until she was once again startled by a girlish yell.

'haaaaahaaa, you loser!'

May could immediately recognize the voice — and no, she couldn't be mistaken!

turning her head back to ariados, her gaze was met with that of the very purple haired coordinator she expected to see. 'Harley!' May screamed angrily, flailing around in the tight web.

'heeey, gingerbread cookie!' harley yowled back, the corners of his lips cracking into a grin.

'Harley! Get me down from here!' May wailed, trying her best to get herself free from the thick string.

'No, won't do, honey!' Said Harley, calling the laughing ariados back into the pokeball. 'You're looking real cute hanging in there, and I'll leave you like that!' he commented, twirling around on his feet playfully.

'Whaaaat!?' May squealed. 'Harley, stop being so mean and help me get down! Please! I need to get to my next contest!' May growled, unable to break the string. Harley glared at her: even though he looked slightly intimidated, he eventually broke into a laugh.

'Nah! Why'd you think I'd even show up to get you stuck in a tree?' Harley giggled. 'I did this exactly because of that reason! So I can win the ribbon and you can't!' He snickered, sticking his tongue out at May, provoking a loud groan from the dangling brunette. 'Though you look very adorable trying to free yourself, that ain't working! You cant break out, and this time there won't be anyone to help ya out!'

May screamed angrily. 'Harley, you... you-' 'Me me me!' Harley cut her off. 'Yes, me! I'll be winning that precious ribbon before you've even gotten yourself free from the string!'
