"David?"

He looked up. "Yeah, sugar?"

"So, I... I've never been good at the super romantic things, or expressing my feelings. You know that. I don't have the words, a lot of the time, to express how I feel. Other times, I don't have the nerve."

Wes swallowed nervously, rolling the apple between his hands on the table. "And we're working on that. I'm getting better. I originally wanted to say this once I had the words to do it smoothly, but I just can't any longer. You're my home. I love you more than I've ever loved anyone else. My heart feels... warm when I'm around you.

"And I... I love how patient you are with me, that you don't get upset and know I'm doing my best. Because you make me want to do my best. But you also make me feel safe if I can't. Everything about you, I like. I like everything about you."

David smiled. "I like everything about you too."

Wes smiled back, getting the strength to push forwards. "I wish I had a ring, but I didn't want to pick one out without you, and it's not like my family passed any down to me. So, here's me asking, with an older tradition: David Thompson, will you marry me?"

As he said it, he tossed the apple to him. David's eyes were wide, and he didn't make a move to catch the apple, looking like he was in shock.

"I... Oh my god! I was supposed to catch that!" David looked around at the ground for the apple, but Wes laughed, and he looked back to him. "Forget the apple, then. Yes. Yes, I will marry you. I love you."

Wes walked over, pulling him into a kiss. "I am so happy you said yes."

"Of course I said yes. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

He mock-pouted. "Just your life?"

David chuckled. "We can have a fancy ghost wedding in the afterlife. This way we get a wedding in every lifetime, so I can promise to stay with you for the rest of that one. More cake, cheat the system."

Wes was crying, laughing, and shaking his head at the same time. "I love you so much. Fancy ghost wedding it is, but let's focus on the fancy living wedding first."

"Deal."
