After everything had transpired with Aurora and her demise, and after another year of being together and working together to make and keep New Orleans their home, Klaus and Caroline got their happy ending and got married. They stayed in New Orleans together, while Elijah deciding that Klaus no longer needed him as long as Caroline was at his side, left with a human Kat. Klaus gave them his blessing to be happy together. And after a while of being out of New Orleans and happy together, minus the times of them having to defeat each other's enemies, Elijah made the ultimate decision. They found another cure and he took it to die with her when it was her time to do so. He'd lost too many people, by Klaus' hand or not. He couldn't lose her. He wouldn't be able to live without her. And so, everyone got a happy ending.
