Chapter 20

As I walk into 'old man william's dry cleaning' a familiar face comes into view. "Tobio?" I ask scooting closer to him. "Isabelle? Hey" he says, wrapping his arm around me giving a bit of a side hug."What are you doing in Versailles ?" I ask as we walk towards the counter. " I'm visiting my grandma for the next few weeks, she kinda has me running her errands" he said motioning towards the well pressed dress shirt. "Isabelle, lovely seeing you again" Mrs. Williams says before taking the clothing from me. "The usual i presume?" she says smiling. "Yes please , Auntie Athena will be here by tomorrow evening to pick it up " I said, smiling back at her before taking the ticket. "Okay, darling, thank you for coming," she says. I wave back at her before turning my attention towards Tobio.
   "Well if you don't mind, I'd love to hang around while you do your errands...if that's okay with you" he said scratching the back of his neck. He seemed so shy, if i hadn't seen him transform i would've never thought that he was Viperion. "Isabelle?" he asks once more, pulling me away from my thoughts.''hmm?..oh um yeah, no that's fine....i mean yes you could come with me" i say, feeling my cheeks begin to warm at the fact that he caught me dozing off. "Great, where to next?" he said, opening the door off the dry cleaners and holding it open for me. I smile at him "Lets see, i have to go grocery shopping for auntie" i say as i reach into my pocket for the grocery list she made. "Can i see that for a second?" he asks, appearing next to me as we begin to walk down the street. I hand him the piece of paper and watch as he takes it into his hands. "Lets see, we have Celery, Carrots, Green bell peppers, Tomatoes, Corn, Pomegranate ?..hmm i know the perfect place we could find these '' he said taking my hand into his and leading me towards the subway station. I feel my cheeks beginning to heat up and the thought of him holding my hand. The action alone was so intimate that I felt guilty. This seemed wrong, sure it's just hand holding but I still felt as if I was betraying Luka in some way. But, should I ? We're not together, and besides he used to hold hands with Marinette all the time. So it's just an innocent gesture, nothing to worry about. 
As we're entering the subway I quickly scan the room for any available spots to sit in , but just my luck all the seats were taken. Tobio must've noticed my worried expression. "Don't worry Isabelle we can just hang on to the railing" He said as a smile covered his face. I return a small smile and reach out for a handle. After about 10 minutes of standing up holding the handle my arm begins to feel numb. I tried to shake it off and switch hands but just as I let go the subway came to a stop causing me to land head first into Tobios chest. The strong scent of cologne filled my nose. His scent was so much more different than Luka's . He smelled much more of Lavender and lemongrass, while Luka smelled more of caramel. I shake my head trying to get the thought of Luka out of it. I really need to stop comparing them, they're two different people with feelings. It's not fair for me to compare them this way.
"Isabelle?"  Tobios voice pulls me out of my thoughts once again, then i realize my head is still in his chest and im still clinging onto him. I could hear his heartbeat speed up as i look up, before i quickly pull away. "Im-im so sorry, i didn't mean to" i say my face turning a shade of scarlet for what seems to be the 40th time since we've ran into each other. "Its fine dont worry. Are you okay though?" he asks a concern looks coming across his face. "I'm- good, great even" i say avoiding eye contact with him. He chuckles before pulling my chin up and tucking a loose strand behind my ear. The small gesture reminded me of Luka once again. Dammit Isabelle you need to stop. He clears his throat before quickly looking away, "this is our stop we should get off now" he says as he begins to walk towards the door. It took me a minute to realize what had just happened before walking over to him and exiting the subway. "So um where are we going" i ask as i join his side once more.
"The best place to get fresh groceries, the market" he says as his hand brushes mine slightly. We walked in silence for a few minutes before the market came into view. Looking over it i found the excitement bubbling up in me. There where so many stands and so many people, dressed in so many different colors. Each stand had their own unique quality to them and everywhere you'd look you see smiling faces. "First time? He chuckles looking over at me." It's amazing! All these stands!" I looked over at him and gave me a wide smile, "we'll come on then let's go get your aunties groceries" he said taking my hand and leading me into the crowd.
We walk up to this brightly colored stand, tomatoes laid stacked in a perfect triangle form. An old lady sat fanning herself in this summer heat. Without letting go of my hand Tobio began to inspect the tomatoes and proceeded to hand them to my free hand. Once we were done we paid and said our goodbyes to the lady. We fall into the similar process for the rest of the shopping trip. Never once breaking our hands apart. Has he noticed yet? Is he holding my hands on purpose? He's practically a stranger...well to be fair i dont know Tobio that well, but he's Viperion and Viperion and I have gotten pretty close. So maybe he doesnt realize hes out of the mask? I try and focus on something else to try and forget this dilemma i have in my head. "Hello there, could i interest you guys in a few lucky charms" said an old man in a nearby stand. Tobio looks over at me and i give him a smile. He takes that as a sign to stop, and he begins to head over to the man. "We have both lovers charms and lucky charms" "They say that love will stay forever between lovers who share this magic charm" the old man said picking up a charm the size of a dime. The charm itself was beautiful it glowed stunning blue hue with a gold outline. While the other one glowed a soft pink with the same golden outline. He pressed both of them together and formed a beautiful lavender. "Were not-" i start to say but im cut off by Tobio. "I'll take them" he said a confident smile tracing his face.
He thanked the man before taking the small package into his hand and placing it in his pocket. "Just a little something for later" he says, sending a wink in my direction. The sudden attention caught me off guard and made me burst in a wild blush.
After a very long day we begin to make our way back to auntie Athena's house. "I've had a lot of fun with you today Isabelle" he says as we're reaching my temporary home. "Yeah, it was good running into you again Tobio '' I say, giving him a small smile. I pull out my keys from my pocket and begin to unlock the door, before I can step through it I'm stopped by him. "Actually i was hoping we could go out again...only this time as a date instead" as soon as those words left his mouth my body became stiff. Did he really just ask me out? What would Luka think? Wait-why am I worried about him? We're not together. What I wouldn't do to have Maddie here right now. "Umm, listen Tobio i'm just getting out of this complicated well- it's not really a relationship but i've been trying to forget him and i know it wouldn't be fair to you." "use me to forget him, I don't care isabelle. Since the moment we met I knew something brought us together. I haven't stopped thinking about you since that night and meeting you again here- in Versailles of all places is a sign."he said, holding onto my hands and bringing them up to his chest. "You don't have to give me an answer now, just please promise me you'll think about it" he said, now playing with my hair. The whole action was weird to me, i never really had a boyfriend i always just waited for Luka to notice me. And apart from Luka no one has ever been so intimate with me before.
"I-i should go" I said , pulling away from him and turning to face the door. "I'll think about it, okay?" I said without looking back at him and entering the small apartment. Maybe I should give him a chance, I'm already close to his superhero persona. It's funny actually Viperion and I just clicked from the moment we met, it was so natural for me to be around him. It just felt right. But around Tobio i don't feel that way at all, sure he's a great guy but i just see him as friend, but not at the same level as i do with Maddie, Evan or even Viperion. But if Tobio is Viperion shouldn't i feel the same for him?
"Isabelle, honey is that you '' Auntie Athena calls out from the living room. "Yes im home, i've got groceries too" i say as she comes into view and reaches for the rest of the bags from the floor. "My did you carry all of this by yourself?" "no- i had some help" i say trying to hide my blush. She looks over at me and raises an eyebrow. "Met someone new ?" she asked, following me into the kitchen. "No, more like a friend from back home" i say putting the produce in the fridge.''Is he cute?" she asks giggling like a schoolgirl.
I stop and think about it for a second, I mean he had his charms and I guess he was kinda cute, but nowhere near Lukas level. No luka was more like a mix of cute and hot. He could be anything from adorable to sexy in a second. "He's okay" she looks over at me and just stares. "Mhm"
After dinner I went to my room and decided to facetime Maddie, but the call went straight to voicemail. That's weird. I lay down and stare at the ceiling. I sure miss being back in Paris. As I drift off to sleep I begin to wonder if maybe it's time to go back home- to Luka.
