Bombing Blame

Y/N and Wanda are sitting on the couch playing video games when Natasha walks into the room, taking a seat beside Wanda.

"Whose signed?"

"Steve, Vision, Rhodey, Sam and Pietro. Tony is unsure. Then there's me, you two, Bucky and Yelena who refuse to sign it."

Y/N nods with a sigh.

"And uncle Clint."

"Says he's retired."

"He deserves it, after everything that's happened."

Natasha looks at her son, she knows he never wanted the hero life but the people need him. The people need the Avengers.

"I'm going to Vienna to try plead our side of it. You two still coming?"

"I don't feel right going. The Wakandans are gonna be there and after what I did it just wouldn't feel right."

Y/N wraps his arms comfortingly around Wanda kissing her head as she nuzzles her head into his neck.

"What about you sweetie?"

"Is dad going?"

"Yeah."

"Then I'll go too."

"You won't be able to come in, if people see you after what happened-"

"I know. Bucky and I can explore the city."

She smiles before getting up and leaving the two of them alone. Wanda and Y/N head upstairs to their shared room where he starts to pack his bags.

The next day, Y/N and Wanda are standing outside the Quinjet saying their goodbyes as Nat and Bucky wait on the jet.

"I'm going to miss you so much," Wanda whispers as she clings to him.

"I'm going to miss you so much more my love."

He kisses her head, holding her close as she keeps her body wrapped around him. Their moment is interrupted by Nat clearing her throat.

"Come on lovebirds we're on a schedule."

Y/N puts Wanda down, much to both their annoyance before kissing her softly as he cups her cheeks. They hug one last time before he heads on the Quinjet, waving goodbye as the door closes. 

Y/N sits alone in the back as Bucky pilots the Quinjet towards Vienna. Nat walks back to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulder and pulling him into her. 

"What's wrong? You missing Wanda that much already?"

"Yeah but that's not it."

"Then what is it?"

He sighs as she rubs her hand up and down his arm.

"I just have a feeling something is going to go wrong at the conference."

"I'm sure it will be okay baby."

"And if it's not?"

"Then I'll do my best to stay safe."

Y/N hugs his mom who returns the gesture.

"I can't lose you mom."

"You won't ever have to, I promise."

After a few hours, Bucky lands the Quinjet and they all get off. The two men say goodbye to Nat as she heads to the conference and they head to the hotel. 

They get set up in the hotel, chilling around for a bit before deciding to go out and explore the city of Vienna. 

Meanwhile inside the United Nations building, Natasha walks inside looking around and sees T'Challa in a sharp suit looking out through a glass wall as a news anchor talks.

"At a special United Nations conference 117 countries have come together to ratify the Sokovia Accords."

Nat walks further into the building.

"Excuse me, Miss Romanoff?" 

Nat turns to her right to see a UN staffer. 

"Yes?"

"These need your signature."

Natasha walks over, signing the forms she has to fill out as T'Challa looks over at her.

"Thank you."

"Thanks."

Natasha walks away from the UN staffer before T'Challa walks over to her.

"I suppose neither of us is used to the spotlight."

"Oh, well, it's not always so flattering."

"I here you are speaking against the Accords?"

"Yes, I'm guessing you approve of them?"

"The Accords, yes. The politics, not really. Two people in a room can get more done than a hundred."

T'Chaka walks over to the two of them.

"Unless you need to move a piano."

"Father."

"Son. Miss Romanoff."

"King T'Chaka. Please allow me to apologise for what happened in Nigeria."

"A young boy told us of the work your son did. I'm sorry for dragging his name through the dirt."

"If everyone could please be seated. This assembly is now in session."

"That is the future calling. Such a pleasure."

"Thank you."

Natasha walks away to take her seat. 

"For a man who disapproves of diplomacy, you're getting quite good at it."

"I'm happy, Father."

T'Chaka takes the stage.

"When stolen Wakandan Vibranium was used to make a terrible weapon, we in Wakanda were forced to question our legacy. Those men and women killed in Nigeria, were part of a goodwill mission from a country too long in the shadows. We will not, however, let misfortune drive us back. We will fight to improve the world we wish to join. I am grateful to the Avengers for supporting this initiative."

T'Challa spots something outside.

"Wakanda is proud to extend its hand in peace."

"EVERYBODY GET DOWN!"

An enormous explosion goes off between two buildings and destroys the conference hall. T'Challa finds his father lying on the floor with his eyes closed. 

He grabs his father's wrist and feels for a pulse, but his father lies still. Devasted, T'Challa lies across his father before lifting him up and rocking him in his arms.

Y/N and Bucky arrive back at their hotel room, with the younger of the two sitting on the couch while the former assassin gets a drink of water for them both. Bucky turns on the news and they see the damage, Y/N immediately calling his mother.

"A bomb hidden in a news van ripped through the UN building in Vienna."

After a few minutes, Natasha answers the phone.

"Mom! We've just seen the news. Are you okay?"

"I'm okay, bit sore but nothing I can't bounce back from. I guess you were right."

"I wish I-"

Y/N cuts himself off after hearing the last bit of the news. 

"Officials have released a video of the suspects who they have identified as James Buchanan Barnes, the Winter Soldier and his Hydra accomplice Y/N Alexei Romanoff, Igneos who was also in Nigeria when the bombing happened there too."

Y/N and Bucky look at each other.

"Shit...."
