A/N: This short story is in fact an extra scene from Hellfire – The Awakening which is not written into the original draft, enjoy!

It hadn’t been easy, but for one day we were no longer Ebony Noire and Cinder Schwarz, today we would be human and do human things, with the use of our fake identities of course.

I had tired of staying in the Schwarz Manor day in day out, and finally Evangeline had agreed to let us go out on one date. Of course there were plenty of conditions, don’t feed, wear a disguise, use the fake identities… I’d taken it very seriously and had even taken notes of everything I needed to remember, Cinder on the other hand, well he was yawning so much  doubt he was even listening…

Today I was masquerading as a girl named Faye Williams. According to my I.D I was eighteen years of age and a student at the local college. I wore a wig which gave the impression that I had blonde hair and I wore contact lenses changing my eyes from luminous yellow to a chocolate brown. I wore a purple mini-dress and matching flats.

Cinder was posing as a mature student named Will Issac. He hadn’t changed his hair colour but had agreed to wear green contact lenses. He’d been forced to ditch his usual gothic attire and had switched his skinny jeans for combat pants and his biker boots for Nike trainers.

I glanced at him, he was looking rather uncomfortable and had jammed his hands into his pockets, I wondered if he regretted promising me a day in Bradford.

I had shown him the sights and we now stood in line at the cinema, I had taken advantage of Cinder’s ignorance regarding popular culture and he’d promised to watch Beautiful Creatures with me; I wonder how long it would take until he realised that we weren’t seeing the sci-fi thriller that he thought we were.

As the line slowly whittled down I squeezd Cinder’s hand. Today he wasn’t his usual arrogant self, he seemed utterly confused in the presence of humans and I bit back a smile.

Two girls dashed passed us towards the drink stand, they both had skin which they had painted bright orange, Cinder gaped after them and I nudged him in the ribs.

“What’s up?” I asked him.

He pointed after the girls in shock, “Is that…normal? Those girls look like burn victims!” he exclaimed in horror.

I grinned, “Welcome to the norm Cinder. That’s how the majority of my school wore their makeup,” I explained.

“And they said that you were the strange one?” he asked confused.

I laughed, I didn’t usually like talking about the past but Cinder’s face as he tried to comprehend my words was a picture.

“Next please!” called the ticket vendor.

I stepped forwards pulling Cinder with me.

“Two tickets for Beautiful Creatures please,” I said.

“Is there any robots in it? I love robots,” exclaimed Cinder with a winning smile.

The vendor looked confused, “Er no,” he muttered, Cinder looked disappointed.

“That’s fourteen pounds please,” said the vendor in a bored tone.

I dug into my handbag to find my purse, but Cinder beat be to it and handed a crisp fifty pound note to the vendor.

“Keep the change,” he said silkily.

I groaned inwardly and grabbed the tickets, we were supposed to be remaining inconspicuous, giving a vendor thirty eight pounds was definitely not inconspicuous and the last thing we needed was for people to think we were celebrities and to try and work out who we really were.

“Are you sure?” the vendor’s voice interrupted my thoughts.

Cinder nodded and the vendor grinned, it was probably the most amount of money he’d earned in a week.

Cinder started to smile and I stamped on his foot, the last thing I wanted was for him to show off his fangs.

“Teeth,” I hissed.

He didn’t react and I marched him to the viewing room.

“Wait we forgot popcorn!” he yelled suddenly.

Passers by turned and stared at us and several girls started pointed in our direction and giggled.

“It doesn’t matter,” I replied through gritted teeth.

“But Ebony!” whined Cinder, sounding very much like a spoilt child.

“It’s Faye!” I hissed as I led him towards the popcorn counter.

Exasperated I ordered a large bucket of buttered popcorn and quickly paid the vendor before Cinder has a chance to beat me too it again. Finally we headed towards the cinema room and I exhaled a sigh of relief. We’d watch the film, enjoy it and leave.

I started to watch, enthralled by the storyline, the characters and the music. We managed to get halfway through the film before Cinder started to fidget.

“What’s wrong now?” I whispered.

“Those people at the back are kissing,” replied Cinder.

“It’s normal,” I replied as I redirected my eyes towards the screen.

I managed to watch another minute before Cinder tried to kiss me and managed to knock over the entire bucket of popcorn onto the people in front of us.

Enraged I walked out of the cinema leaving Cinder on the floor scrabbling for bits of popcorn. I reached Cinder’s car and slid into the passenger seat, I propped my feet on the dashboard and lit a cigarette.

Ten minutes later Cinder arrived, he smiled ruefully as he handed me a fresh bucket of popcorn.

“I have ordered the servants to prepare the film for when we get back…” he started.

I looked at the popcorn and then to Cinder and I burst out laughing.

“What? Do you not like popcorn after all?” he asked bemused.

I shook my head, “It’s not that but Cinder you make a terrible human!” I laughed.

His face registered confusion before he smiled.

“Does that mean you want try again sometime?” he asked.

I shook my head, “Definitely not!” I giggled.

“Then what do you want to do?” he asked taking my hand in his.

I leaned into him and burrowed my face in his neck.

“I don’t mind, just as long as I’m with you,” I said.

He smiled softly and shifted slightly, brushing his cool lips across my forehead.

“I love you,” he said quietly.

I kissed his neck, “I love you too,”
