It started like the movies. A virus had spread. We were naive , we ignored the signs. And then you saw it on everything you saw and read. Next panic had risen everywhere. Finally we crumbled. All right I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me explain.
*flash back*
My eyes was locked on the tv screen focused on every word they said like my life depended on it. Which it actually did."We still have no information on this virus. But what we do know is it's not dangerous and there is no need to panic."
I cut the tv off. My hands sweating. When the news says ' there is no need to panic' then you better start panicking.
"James get to school." My moms voice ranged from upstairs.
"But the news! Maybe I should stay home." A rule for avoiding sickness avoid as many people at all cost and that means avoid SCHOOL.
"Have a good day."
My shoulders slumped in defeat. And I headed towards the school. School was a few blocks away from home. So I don't mind.
I was welcomed with opened gates to school. Whoopie.
"Hey."
I whipped around to see a frightened Rose. No not the flower my friend Rose.
"You ok?" My arm instinctively went on her shoulder as we walked to class.
" It's just...this virus it's scaring me. What if it turns out to be more than what they say."
My arm pulled her in closer as we walked. "Rose this is what happens when you watch too much horror movies."
"Like you don't watch horror movies. Besides I'm a girl."
My feet stopped and I dramatically held my chest. "sexist much." A laugh escaped my lips. Her face was priceless and then she joined in. I bet we looked like maniacs laughing while a virus spreads.
In class was no different then any other day except instead of gossip about who's dating who or who did what it was the virus.
"I heard when you catch it you die." A girl thought she was whispered to her friend.
"Well i heard that it's just fake. An experiment to see how we'll react."
"ENOUGH!" My teacher spun around. He was clutching his stomach and looked up. Silence filled the room. The silence of death that I seen in movies.
His eyes was red. The veins in his arms were black. "I want you all." He went into a coughing fit. "I want you all to get back to work now!"
No one moved. Not until he pounced on a student. His teeth sanked into the kids flesh. That's when all the noise that was held in ranged out.
I remember saying how it started like a movie. The difference is that a movie is fake and this was reality. And our reality was a nightmare in the making.
