15.A year

(1 year later)

It's been a year since everything started. A Lot has happened. I lost everyone and I've yet to find one.

I walked around hands in my pocket. Nothing to do.

"James." I turned to the voice to see my boss.

"Yes?"

He sighed. "I know you just went on a run but i need you to go on a mission. You're our top guy here."

A smile appeared on my face. "Sure, what's the mission?"

He started walking and motioned me to follow. We we're in his office.

"You know how we haven't found anyone else, or that people seem to go missing."

I nodded my head.

"Well." He folded his hands. "There's another group and they hate us and what we do."

"Sir?" What did he want me to do.

" I want you to kill their leader. No leader, no order , no order they'll fall apart."

I nodded. "Is that all sir?"

He shook his head. "There's a new load coming in. I need you to get them settled. Explain the rules."

I nodded.

"Thank you james it is a honer to have you on our team."

"Thank you sir." I stepped back into the cool air. Today was a perfect day.

A grey truck drove in. The driver signaled me over.

I moved to the back and flung up the back. Sun poured in and kids covered there face and groaned.

I rolled my eyes. "Complaining isn't gonna make the sun go away any faster.
So shut up and get out." I made sure my voice was stone cold.

Kids hopped out the truck.

I started to walk. "Follow me, if you try to run you will be killed on the spot without hesitation."

I was taking them to there rooms which was cells.

A little boy ran. A shot rang through the air and we heard a thud. "My point exactly."

I got to the cages. "Each of you will be assigned a cage. Four people per cage. No more. No less."

I started putting kids in the cages.

The last caged I grabbed a boy and shoved him in. He at me with piercing blue eyes.

"James?"

My breathe hitched in my throat. "Chase....I thought you was.."

"Dead." He finished my sentence. "But I'm here and alive."

"What happened to you?"

He sighed. "That crazy guy was bit. He bit Ally and i had to put them down. I escaped the building and from there i tried my hardest to find you but you had a pretty good head start. It only took me a year." He let out a chuckle

"Chase you have to get out of here." I said keeping my voice low.

"How,why?"

"These people force you to work. I had to do pretty nasty things to get to the top. I have a mission today. You can come with me. But you have to hide until then and don't get registered." My eyes narrowed. "I mean it don't get registered."

He nodded.

"Meet me at the truck. Nightfall. I'll see you later." I left the gate opened and sprinted.
