"Ugh ...where am I?".
She slowly became aware of herself.

There was a huge taste of coppery blood in her mouth.
Her lips were dry.

There was a slight pulse in her neck that she sensed.

She tried opening her eyes to see where she was but her eyelids couldn't open. Her blindfold was on.

"These motherfuckers took precautions " she thought.

She came back into reality slowly with every passing second.
How was she still alive? She should've been dead by now.
Maybe this was a miracle.

Laura tried to remember the last thing that happened.
"Oh right, I was getting my ass whooped " she thought.

She tried moving her hands but she realised her hands and feet were tied up to the chair she sat in.

Her body Was still covered with cuts, bruises and blood.
She really looked like she could use some stitches.
Every square inch of her body shot up with pain.

"Wake up princess " a voice rang in Laura's ears.
She listened to the heartbeats around and sensed there were three men in the room of which one was in very close proximity to her and the others standing a couple of steps away from her.

She could feel a shadowy figure hovering around her.

"Wake up!" The voice ordered.

She lifted her head upright.

"Well well , if it isn't daddy's favourite princess" the manly voice said again.

"Are you Mr Pai-" Laura asked her voice almost sounding like a whisper.

"Shhhh , I do the talking here alright . You do not speak until you're told to do so " Mr paine interjected quickly.

"So your father sent you to kill me? Isn't that right ?"

Laura stayed quiet.

"SMACK" a slap landed on Laura's cheeks.
She Spat out some blood and readjusted her head.

"Isn't that right ?" Mr Paine asked again furiously.

"Cough ...cough ..you're going to pay for what you did to my mother?" Laura threatened clenching her fists tightly.

"Your mother?" Mr Paine asked looking more confused than ever.

"You heard me. I know you're part of people that murdered her" Laura replied .

"Murdered? Is Tatiana dead?"

"Oh great so you do remember her name " Laura teased .

"Don't play games with me Paine , I know you're one of her killers " Laura vented out angrily.

"So that's what this is about ? Look here child , I don't know the lies that your daddy must have fed you with but I am no killer. Your mother and I were good friends   and it's been almost a decade since I heard from her" Mr Paine explained .

"You're lying. I don't believe any word that comes out of your mouth" Laura said .

She wanted it to be a lie. She wanted him to admit that he was part of the killers that took her mom's life.

Laura listened closely to Mr Paine's heartbeat and sensed he was telling the truth.

Laura was disappointed and sad.
Why would her dad send her on a goose chase ?.
She was left with more questions than before.

"Look I'm really sorry about what my men did to you but I believe you and your father have a lot of things to discuss and my deepest condolences to you . And for what it's worth I really wish we met under different circumstances. Maybe one da-"
