CHAPTER 5
They pierced through the window in order to save themselves. The exact moment , the shards of glass embedded into both of them was not painful due to their adrenaline rush, but the moment after that was .
The moment they hit the ground from the three - storey building. There were chunks of glass dug deep inside them courtesy of their brave act to escape the grenade hurled at them.
Laura's eyelids were still shut underneath her blindfold. She was still conscious. Her sense of hearing was dampened by the sound of the explosion.
She could smell smoke coming from the burning building and shouts of victims that were trapped in the building.
She tried moving her right foot. She couldn't feel her left foot.
She cried in agony. There was a two feet stone debris on her left leg. She was trapped. White hot pain shot up her spine. She froze, and tried to focus on breathing, a task that was proving to be monumental right now.
Her mind reminded her of the three snipers. She was wondering why they hadn't swooped down on them to finish the job.
Her breath came ragged , the air moving sluggishly over her bone dry tongue , drying them more in the process.
Her lips were cracked, the only moisture was the blood that was oozing out from them.
All around her were broken remnants of the Motel.
She felt the stone on her leg being lifted. She recognised the grunts made by her rescuer. It was Enzo.
"Get up Laura, we gotta move" He said as he helped her to her feet.
She stumbled a bit but she regained her balance.
The both made their way briskly to the parking lot . She groaned with every step she took. But her survival instincts had kicked in .
Enzo hot wired a red chevrolet. Laura hopped in the front seat pronto. He stepped his foot on the gas and they were on the road in no time.
Enzo was bleeding from a cut on his forehead.
Laura smelled the blood coming from his wound.
"You're bleeding".
"I'll be fine don't worry" Enzo replied as he wiped the blood with the back of his hand.
Three black range rovers whooped in behind. Enzo's eyes shot to the rear view mirror. He recognised the cars immediately.
"They're your dad's men" Enzo said with his eyes fixated on the road now.
"How did he find us?" Laura asked looking confused.
"Worry about that later, let's focus on outrunning these guys" Enzo replied with his hands pressed tightly on the steering wheel.
He pushed his foot down on the gas pedal hard. The speed gauge jerked past 80 miles per hour and they were in a high speed chase, like the ones we always see in movies .
Laura hoped the fire department had arrived in time to rescue the poor victims stuck in the Motel.
The gun men began to open fire at Enzo and Laura's car. Shots came from all three range rovers .
"Here , take my gun " Enzo said as he drew out his pistol from his back pocket and handed it to Laura.
How the fuck do you expect a lady in blind fold to shoot at three moving cars at high speed. Well Laura was not the regular kind of lady.
She's been fighting her whole life blind relying on her sense of hearing and smell and she was better off without her sight.
But her senses were tingling, seems the explosion's after effect hadn't worn off from her.
