"What are you gonna wear?" Cirrus asked me as all the ghouletts sat in Sunshine's room.
"I can't wear anything new. I don't know if my energy can hold up that long."
"That's what you think!" Cummulus sang out, holding a book in her hand.
"What's that?" I looked at the book that she was swinging around.
"I- my dearest ghost friend- have found a book on ghosts!"
I gave her a confused look. "What about it?"
"We got you a dress!" Sunshine beamed.
"How am I-"
"It says in the book we have to give you an offering and you will be able to take it."
"Like coco?" I asked with a giggle. We had recently watched that movie because it was sunshine's comfort movie and honestly it was really good.
"Something like that." Cummulus said as she opened the book. There was a pause. "Huh." She started at the page. There was an uneasy feeling in my stomach.
"What is it, Lus?"
"The page was doggy eared. And there is a post-it on it with writing on it."
"What does it say?" Cirrus looked over to the book.
"Bunch of chicken scratch. I can't understand it." Cummulus was squinting at it. "Yeah, no idea what this says." She removed the post-it and put it on the first page of the book so she could read.
After around ten minutes of rereading the steps and thinking of where we get the materials we laid them down on the ground and lit the candles in a circle.
"It says here that the spirit doesn't even have to be present for these offerings." Sunshine pointed at the book.
"That's a different one. That ritual is so they can become stronger. The one we are doing, Dove needs to be here for." Cirrus corrected.
"There are different rituals?" Sunshine asked amazed.
"Yeah, not a lot though."
"Do you think that's why Dove is getting stronger? Someone is doing a ritual for her without her knowing?" Cumulus questioned mostly to herself.
"Who would do that?" I furrowed my eyebrows together, thinking of who would do it. I mean maybe Rain but he would've told me. Swiss maybe? As like a surprise. But that wouldn't make sense unless he's a good lier, which he might be but I don't know.
"Dew?" Cirrus suggested and I let out a laugh.
"He may now hate me anymore, but he definitely doesn't like me enough to do that."
She shrugged. "Never know!"
"I think I have everything set up!" Cumulus clapped her hands together and took a step back from the makeshift altar.
The candles were in a circle around it, varying in different heights. We had used her vanity as the altar. Sunshine placed the dress on top along with the makeup they wanted me to wear. I stood in front of it, looking at myself in the mirror. I was pale as paper, translucent as always but not how I looked when I was first brought here. You could see how strong I was becoming. My hair still looked the same as when Swiss brushed through the curls. It was a little frizzy but better then the knots that were in it. I smiled at this then I realized the face I was looking at was my own. I knew it was but seeing the slits on the sides of my mouth fold as I smiled caused me to shiver. I stopped smiling. I was hideous, I understand why Dew didn't want me to smile, I was an eyesore to look at. I just wish they could've seen me before this all happened. I didn't even think I looked good when I was alive but I would give anything to go back. To be normal. Here I was, about to accept an offering so I could look pretty. Nothing was going to fix this. Makeup can't do shit to a face like this, not even a face a mother could love.
