Petra Pachner

All right, let's do this

My name is Petra Pachner. I was born on April 19th 1947. I grew up on a farm with my Aunt Mai and Uncle Beron. My mother wasn't in a good mental state after my dad left... so I got taken away from her. I used to cry a lot...I mean it was a lot to get used to...the farm. I hated insects so much that I wouldn't beg and scream when I had to do my chores around the farm. Country life was never for me, so when I found out that I was accepted into the university of Neue York, I was beyond happy. I studied graphic design at the University of Neue York and almost got married. He found someone else...which hurt... a lot. After a few months of crying, drawing, and crying some more, I found myself in a situation one could never imagine. I was bit by a radioactive spider and gained abilities I could have never thought of. I became more of a hero who nobody knew the identity of. Going to class every morning after a fight was tough. Hearing everybody's opinions on Spider Woman, good and bad, and having to try my best not to give it away. After I graduated, it became easier. Now, for the last four and a half years I've been a hero known as "Spinne-Woman" Or "Spider-Woman" constantly protecting this city. The only one this city has ever known or will know. I catch bad guys, it's what I'm known for. Ever since I became popular, crime rates in this city have plummeted. I still tend to jump when I see a spider crawling on my celling, though.

CHA-CHING

The cash register rings.

"How much paint did you possibly need?" Emilia looks to me as the cashier hands me my bag.

"I'm working on a project, Em. I told you this." I fold up the receipt a few times before looking at her.

"Do your projects usually cost 119 Euros?" She raises an eyebrow.

"Not usually..." I sigh, "but this one is big."

"But you can't tell me what it is?" She pleads as we walk out of the doors. I shake my head.

"I already told you, it's a secret" I poke her arm and force a smile.

"Gee, let me guess. Does it have something to do with my party?" Emilia's college graduation party is tomorrow and that reminds me, I still need to get her something.

"I uh.." I mumble. "Maybe..." Or maybe I've just been working on redesigning my suit, but Emilia can't know that.

Emilia laughs. "You didn't need to spend 119 Euros on a project for me, Petra." Shit. How do I tell her now that it's not actually for her.

"Maybe it isn't for you...y'know. I never specified-" Emilia lets out a loud laugh, grabbing the attention of people around us. I stop and wait for her to speak, a gust of summer wind blows onto my face and through my thin cardigan. I look to the sky as a dark cloud blocks the warm rays from the sun.

"You're so right." Emilia finally says.

"It's going to rain." I tell her and suddenly I get the feeling...the feeling that something bad is going to happen. Suddenly, I hear a loud crashing noise coming from a building nearby. Both me and Emilia look to where the sound was coming from. I notice a huge hole in the side of a brick building. "Bricks..." I whisper to myself and Emilia snaps her head toward me.

"What?" She asks, a puzzling look in her eyes.

"I uhm...I said it's going to rain. I should get going." I point to the paint in my bag. "Gotta get working on this!" I laugh.

Emilia's lips curl into a small smile. "You're not going to check out that building?"

I shrug my shoulders. "I don't see a reason to." I can already hear police sirens start to rise, and a stir in activity. "I really need to get home, though."
