Maudie's POV
Tuesday
5:01 p.m.'Wear your safety gear!' Ezra shouted. Kyle then abruptly came to a stop, almost tripping over.
'Ugh. Fine, I'll wear my safety gear...' Kyle replied, using his skateboard to come back to us. We gave the safety gear to him so he could gear up.
5:06 p.m.
Me and Kyle sat on the bench, Ezra standing in front making sure that Kyle was correctly putting on his safety gear. Kyle looked like he only needed to wear two more pieces of safety wear. I couldn't help but examine Kyle's skateboard. The skateboard was upside down on my lap, it had cool droopy style that made it look like the skull on it melt. I placed my hands around it carefully, so it wouldn't fall to the ground accidentally.
I took another good look at it, it was amazing. I looked back at Ezra who was looking back at me, sharing a smile. Kyle then asked for his skateboard so he could show us 'the sickest trick ever.'
Kyle placed the skateboard on the ground beside him and put his right foot on it. He then started advancing towards a railing. Ezra and I were nervous for what might happen. Kyle tried to do an ollie, which he successfully did... then, he tripped and fell to the ground.
'Kyle!' We shouted.
We ran towards him. 'That was intentional,' Kyle said, keeping a straight face and looking around hopefully that no one else saw. I lent him a helping hand which he accepted and got up, clutching his skateboard.
'What were you even trying to do?' Ezra asked.
'Well, I was gonna do an ollie, which I did,' he said proudly, 'then I was gonna slide on that railing, do a backflip at the edge of that pool and land on my skateboard in the pool.'
'First of all: how do you know that you can even do that? Second: what's a "pool"?' Ezra asked.
'It's those big holes that look like empty swimming pools over there.' Kyle pointed.
Ezra's POV
5:26 a.m.It's been about twenty minutes of Kyle trying to do the 'the sickest trick ever.' It was honestly so boring to watch him attempt it so many times and fail. So I went to Cole's ice cream shop. It was becoming too hot and we were also getting a bit hungry. I was rushing because the ice cream might melt.
I sat down beside Maudie as she shouted at Kyle that I had arrived with the ice-cream.
'What flavor did you get me?' Kyle hollered, skateboarding towards us.
'I got you the one with multiple flavors.' I handed him his cup of ice-cream. "I chose coffee and I got Maudie butter pecan."
'Thank you.' Maudie exclaimed. We all ate our ice-creams. Kyle mixed and melted his ice-cream into soup, and all the flavors mixed together. Kyle offered his ice-cream soup to us but me and Maudie refused. The color was a grayish-purple. It did not look appetising.
While we were talking, I noticed Maudie was being pretty quiet. It would be like that sometimes with Maudie. But this time it was too quiet of her. I looked at her and saw that she was zoning out. Then I noticed that she was glancing and staring at something.
'What are you looking at?' I asked.
Maudie then got out of her trance; turned her head to me and met my eyes, 'Uh, I was looking at Kyle's skateboard,' she paused. 'It looks nice.' She turned her posture upright and started eating her nearly-melted ice-cream again.
Kyle then started turning his skateboard and said, 'Thank you. I think it looks nice, too. It just won't cooperate whenever I try to do a new trick.'
'Maybe Maudie could help... If she hasn't tried already while I was gone. You seem interested, Maudie,' I suggested, too fast for my liking.
