beth's pov
Nellie! Come on, sweetie. ..."., I called out as I stood at the bottom of the stairs., "...Caleb and Max are down here and ready to go!"."Coming Mommy!"., she called out.
I walked over to the kitchen bench where they were. Max was playing the imaginary drums while Caleb was just sitting in silence.
"So where is it you're going today?"., he asked.
"A wedding of one of my friends"., I smiled but he looked at me confused.
"But..I thought Santino had to work late again tonight".
"He does, I'm bringing someone else..."., I looked at the time., "...and he should be arriving any minute".
"Who is it?"., he asked.
"Chris, do you remember him?".
Caleb looked at the kitchen bench, tapping his fingers on the surface, trying to remember.
"Uh? Isn't that your high school boyfriend?".
"Yeah—".
"I'm ready!"., I heard a slight scraping sound going down the stairs as well as Nellie's footsteps.
I turned around and saw my daughter as well as an oversized bag. I know what she's gout in there. Quite literally all her stuffed animals. She takes them everywhere with her, except for school, we had a big talk about that.
"Did you pack any clothes, Nellie?"., I asked, looking down at the bag.
"Yes, Mommy. They're down the bottom, I promise!"., she spoke very unconvincingly.
I looked in the bag and pushed a few of the stuffed animals to the side, seeing nothing about the bottom of the bag.
"Nellie, go pack your clothes now"., I spoke sternly.
"No!..."., she crossed her arms., "...I don't want too!".
"You need fresh clothes. If you don't pack your clothes, you can't go to the carnival tonight".
"Fine!"., she stomped her feet, rushing up the stairs.
I heard the bedroom door slam shut and turned to Caleb, yawning.
"So what time are you leaving?".
"Around 5pm. The wedding starts at 6pm".
"A night time wedding?..."., Caleb questioned., "...Isn't that a bad idea?".
"No, actually. I think it's quite romantic..."., I smiled., "...there's going to be fairy lights and roses lining up an aisle. It's going to look so good".
"I'm done"., Nellie spoke angrily, dropping her bag in front of me.
"Watch your attitude, young lady"., I spoke sternly.
"We better go"., Caleb spoke, tapping three times on the kitchen counter, going to grab the stuffed animal bag.
