Dear Kafka,

Your Felice is my Riko. She too, is at once both the quiet and the confusion of my heart.

At this time of the day, only the madam and his son remain in their office. So, it was no challenge to get inside.

The voices came from the storage room. I peeked through the gap to see what was going on.

Her son was sitting with a manacled Haoran on the sofa while the madam was standing in front of them. Luckily for me, she was close to the door.

Having constantly lived off a violent business, I’m sure the two of them have quick reflexes. Thus, after I let myself in, I immediately went for her throat.

What I was holding was a bamboo stick I picked up on the way. But it won’t matter how sharp the weapon was. It would only take a few seconds to kill her if I cut a vein in her neck.

Her son knew this and the knowledge was enough to disorient him for a second.

When he recovered and aimed for Haoran, I deepened the sharp edge of the stick on the madam’s disgusting flesh. “Take one more step towards him and this fucking bamboo stick will pierce through your mother’s neck.”

The smug look on his face indicated that he did not believe me, however.

So when he once again aimed for Haoran’s stomach with his pathetic scissors, I sliced his mother’s subclavian artery without second thought. That would give her only 4 seconds left, at most.

I ran to Haoran’s side and sat him swiftly on the sofa while the son rushed to catch his mother’s falling body.

Taking advantage of his distracted state, I put Haoran’s taser to use.

Wasting no time, I uncuffed Haoran’s hands, took off my jacket and put pressure on his wound.

“Will you be able to walk?”

He weakly nodded.

Taking his arm over my shoulder, we moved out of the storage room.
