“I was just going to give you this.” I handed him the box of takeout coffee and mimicked his frown. “Ting said you only drink unhealthy shit for breakfast.”
“Not true,” he muttered. But his hand was already reaching for the caramel macchiato. “Thanks for this though.”

I fixed the strap of my shoulder bag and walked away.
“Did you have breakfast?”
“I'm going out to buy myself some food!” I shouted behind my shoulder.
“Wait.”
I stopped on my tracks.
He hurried inside and I leaned on the railing of the hallway as I waited. My phone beeped and the green light flickered.

“Here.”
I looked up to see him holding a plastic bag. “What's that?”
“Breakfast. A friend dropped by and left it. Go back to your room and eat it.”
A premium sushi meal box. “Thank you.”
