"My… My u-uncle?" Robera's breathless whisper hung low in the air.
Her whole world was crashing down in bits and pieces. Still, she was confused.
Her glossy gaze lowered down to the lying Kirex on the ground.
His soft grunts were barely audible. One had to strain their ears hard to hear the subtle fluttering of his breaths.
Her savior.
Her mentor.
Her guardian.
And her traitor.
A helpless whimper escaped Robera's lips and she snatched her gaze away from him—not being able to bear the helpless state of that strong man.
Robera roughly wiped her cheeks and sniffled before facing Trevor—her so-called uncle.
"And…" She cleared her clogged throat. "And why did you want me?"
Trevor's eyes crinkled as he smiled.
"I hope you know what you are, Robera."
Robera didn't move.
"You are the wonder of this robox world. The strongest of her kind. You're emotional. You're impulsive. You're intelligent. You're the closest thing to a human race, closest to being God. Like me."
Robera let out a shaky breath.
"So, you are a human."
Trevor grinned and widened his arms. "In both flesh and glory. And you, my dear, are my idea."
Robera couldn't help the shiver of disgust at the sheer objectification of her existence.
It was vulgar at its best. But Trevor didn't mind or cared enough to notice that.
"I offered my sister for the experiment of creating you and I was successful! On your six-month blessing ceremony, your parents were supposed to hand you over to me. But your mother refused the night before. And your father backed her."
Something dark flashed in his eyes at that second before they vanished, leaving a somber coldness behind.
Robera flinched when Trevor's cold finger crawled the left side of her cheeks.
Trevor smirked. "They wanted to separate us, Robera. Horrible, right? So, I had to take matters into my hands."
Robera was curling her fists right by the time Trevor moved those leery fingers away from her face.
"I had to send KR6 and his team to dispose of every obstacle in my way and bring you to me—where you rightfully belong. But I knew you were too small for my use so I trusted KR6 to take care of you until you are old enough to fend for yourself. I gave your Kirex five years and had to find out I had another traitor working under me. How wonderful."
