Robera had been pestering Marion to drop the metal plate for the last couple of minutes. When verbal abuse wasn't enough, she started poking the side of his rib - the place where it tickled the most.
But Marion had his teeth literally grinding his lips both in irritation and an immense urge to laugh.
If she so much as sniffs out my weakness-
A sudden cough spluttered out of his lips when Robera hit a place too sensitive to ignore for him.
Her fingers stopped.
But instead of feeling relieved, a strange kind of dread settled inside his stomach.
Marion gulped. "Robe- eek!"
Marion jumped with an yelp when Robera started tickling him.
"Robera... Haha... S-Stop! No!" Marion tried to swat her hands away but Robera was relentless.
She giggled as Marion twisted and squirmed with laughter until his fingers loosened on the plate and it dropped behind them with a loud clatter.
Then, as if nothing happened Robera wiped her smile, brushed off her hands, and stood up to offer Marion her hand.
Marion was breathing harsh as he lay on the ground. He glared dagger at the outstretched hand of Robera for a moment before he jumped up on his own and strode forward.
Robera chuckled behind him and rushed to catch up with him. She nudged his arm with her shoulder and walked with him side by side.
Marion didn't look at her but his pace slowed, making him fall a little behind her as they moved
Robera looked at him over her shoulder and saw him shadowing over her with his towering body, literally working as a walking barrier between her and the active war happening behind them.
She shook her head at him and looked ahead with a sigh.
Soon, they reached the dark, olive-green copter with tinted glass on the front cockpit and the back door of the passenger side.
Marion and Robera straightened their spines and raised their guns higher.
Marion took cautious steps toward the back door. He touched the knob and looked back Robera to find her looking around.
She was searching for Trevor.
She about to move when Marion raised his hand.
"Stay here. Wait until I come back."
Robera raised her brows but didn't move from her position.
At least, she's listening for once.
Marion took a quick glance around for any sign of danger. The war behind them was nothing but a distant flash of red, orange, yellow. Hopefully, no stray bullet would fly out in this far.
