In Ginger Island's farmhouse, (name) awoke from a rooster that always seemed to be following them everywhere. They stepped out of the house and onto the farm. The farm was doing well so far; there were a few starfruit, melons, wheat, garlic, and some fruit saplings growing. They huffed with a prideful smile on their face. They then made their way to the jungle to ask Leo's parrot friend which Golden Walnuts they were missing.
"Hello Leo!" Leo looked up from his little nest on the floor and waved at (name). "Hi new friend! Are you here to talk to bird friend?" (name) walked up to Leo and ruffled his already messy hair. "That's right kiddo. Your nest is looking great by the way!" Leo looked down in embarrassment, the poor boy wasn't used to compliments. "Thank you..." (name) smiled before asking the bird where the last few walnuts were. "*awk* Help man in tent... *awk*" (name) thought for a moment about what that meant, and then they remembered the fossils. "Oh! Right! Thank you!" They let out a squawk similar to the ones that Leo and the other birds make. Leo over in the corner giggled at (name)'s squawk. "You're getting really good at that!" "Thanks Leo!"
Walking out of the jungle, (name) noticed something peculiar. There were people on the island... new people. There were some of the same villagers from Pelican Town, but there were also a handful of new people. They noticed Willy standing on the dock and made their way over to him, careful as to not be noticed by these new people.
"Psst! Willy!" Willy pulled his pipe away from his mouth and turned his attention on (name). "Ahoy there (name)! What's got ya so rattled?" "Who are these people??" They gestured over to a group of the new people and Willy got the hint. "Ay, them. Sorry fer not mentioning it to ye, but there's some tourists visiting the island today." (name) suddenly felt their nerves take over. "B-But, I need to search for fossils here. I'm gonna look crazy..." Willy smiled at the timid farmer, (name) had always struggled around new people. Hell even when they came to Stardew Valley it took them over a year to even become friends with some of the villagers. "You'll be alright, I'll make sure they don't disturb ye," Willy reassured them with a hand on their shoulder. The farmer took a deep breath before deciding it should be fine. "Alright. Thanks, Willy." "No problem, kiddo." (name) stepped off the dock and over towards the resort area. A few of their friends from Pelican Town noticed them and waved, "Hey (name)!" They smiled and waved back at them before getting back to business.
They decided to explore the beach last and instead worked on finding the fossils in the dig site first. (name) was too busy looking at their list of locations of where the fossils could be (conveniently provided by Professor Snail). Meanwhile, a certain someone was watching them from the top of one of the cliffs. A certain, red-haired First Slash Guild member was interested in what the farmer was up to. He was always so fascinated with how (name) worked. (name) had a concentrated look on their face trying to figure out which fossils were where. The Guild member smiled to himself and leaned a little closer to get a better look at their face. Unfortunately for him, he didn't think about how slippery the slope was going to be and he ended up slipping off of the cliff and into a bush. (name) jumped in surprise and loaded their Master Slingshot (with eggs). "Who's there?!" The red head slowly rose from the bush with an embarrassed look on his face; he was covered in branches and had a few scratches on his face. (name) lowered their weapon upon seeing him. "L-Lance? Are you okay??" (name) ran up to him, pulling him out of the bush. They grabbed his face and turned his head around to make sure he didn't have a concussion or something. "Hey, can you hear me? Do you remember who you are? What about where you are? How many fingers am I holding up?" Lance finally came to his senses and his face flushed. He quickly removed the farmer's hands away from his face. "I-I'm fine hahaha! I- um- actually gotta go! Hahahaah!" Lance continued with his awkward fake laughing and teleported away to a more disclosed area away from (name)'s line of sight. "That was... strange. Hope he's okay..."
About an hour later and no luck finding the snake vertebrae fossils, (name) decided to look for the "mummified frog" in the jungle. They were humming to themselves as they walked over to the jungle. As they passed through the beach, they noticed that the guests were still hanging out on the beach. (name) chose to ignore them until two of the tourists that were visiting decided to come up to them. "Hey there, what's your name?" The farmer stopped in their tracks to give their attention to the two tourists that came up to him. "Uh- um- it's... (name)." They were hesitant on answering, I mean come on they didn't even know these guys. "(name), what a cute name." "Yeah (name). Hey, you wanna get a drink with us? Our treat~" "Um, no thanks... I'm kinda- um. Busy." This didn't stop the guys from pushing, however. "Come on, you look like you could use a break." "Um I'm- like- really really busy, sorry." From afar, Willy could see (name) being bombarded with these overly pushy guys and was going to help the poor farmer.
That is until the First Slash Guild member came to the rescue first. Lance emerged from the jungle behind (name) and he wrapped an arm around their waist. "There you are sweetheart, sorry I'm late." The two guys that were hitting on (name) were taken aback. "Hey man, we're busy here." Lance gave them a sharp glare but kept his usual friendly smirk on his face. "Oh, I thought the two of you were just leaving." The guild member raised his hand up and turned them around using his magic. "Huh?!" "W-What is this?!!" Lance waved his hand around and the two guys "walked" off back to the rest of the people on the beach. Willy from the dock gave (name) a look that seemed to ask 'are you alright?' (name) nodded at him and sent him a thumbs up. Willy sent one back and went back to fishing on the dock. (name) noticed that Lance's arm was still around their shoulder and they turned to face him. Lance was still facing the direction that he sent those tourists off but soon met eyes with the farmer. He realized just how close and how touchy he seemed to be and immediately removed his arm from the farmer. "A-Ah! Sorry about that, (name)... I saw you were- um- a little nervous around those guys and I wanted to step in!" (name) could feel the heat rise in their cheeks and they nervously looked away from Lance as to avoid eye contact. "Um- it's okay Lance. It was actually very sweet of you. Thank you for uh- doing that. I was nervous and I didn't really want a drink from them." The two stood awkwardly for a moment before (name) spoke up again. "Um, I know it's not much... but here, take this as a 'thank you' from me." They dug in their backpack and pulled out a bright red ruby. "Oh my! It's beautiful! Thank you, (name)." Lance gratefully took the ruby from their hands and pocketed it; he was absolutely going to treasure the ruby for the rest of his days. "And... one more thing." They reached up/down (depending on how you wanna perceive your character) and planted a small kiss on the guild member's cheek. "Thank you, again Lance." All Lance could do in that moment was stutter like a dying engine, not one coherent word or phrase came out of his mouth. (name) giggled at his reaction, "Well, I better get back to work. Those golden walnuts aren't gonna collect themselves." They took Lance's hand into their own and gave him a final nod before heading into the jungle to find that mummified frog. Lance watched them walk off with a lovestruck look on his face. Once they were out of his sight, Lance went back to his patrolling of the volcano. He could never be more proud of himself for the progress he made with them today.
