Chapter 4: First Day(1)

The four of them had gone out shopping for 'civilian clothes' as most of them didn't have many(or any) outfits that weren't their regular uniforms. They each ended up picking out 3 different outfits, figuring they didn't have to go out much. It had been a week and a half since the entrance exams, and it was the first day of school. And there was already issues. Atsushi and Akutagawa despised the uniforms, claiming they were too uncomfortable, and Kunikida had a constant headache because of those two. After a good bit of arguing about the uniforms, the mafioso's sucked it up and agreed to wear them. The four ate breakfast and walked to school together, not caring if the students and teachers knew they knew each other. Atsushi and Tanizaki were bickering because Tanizaki had made fun of the uniforms, Kunikida and Akutagawa walked in front of the two in silence. Once they entered the school building, the two groups had to split up, one going to the teachers office, the other to class 1-A. The mafioso's made their way through the school and arrived at the door that said 1-A.

"This door is huge." Atsushi said, eyes marveling at the sight.

"Probably to accommodate those with transformation quirks, like yourself." Akutagawa replied, showing no emotion on his face or in his voice.

Atsushi couldn't help but wonder what kind of quirk someone would have to have in order for them to be that big, though he didn't get much time to think it over as Akutagawa had already opened the door to reveal a normal looking classroom with rows of desks and a teachers desk. Atsushi jogged slightly to catch up with Akutagawa and they walked into class together. It was like another dimension in there, as they couldn't hear all the noise their classmates were making when they were in the hallway.

The sudden increase in noise startled Atsushi, and he almost turned around to walk out when Akutagawa grabbed his hand and whispered "Calm down, Jinko. You don't want to jeopardize the mission."

Atsushi looked up at Akutagawa's face and nodded, trying to get his breathing under control, but it was hard because of the constant noise filling his ears. Akutagawa noticed his discomfort and reached into Atsushi's pocket to hand him his earplugs.(A/N for explanation - Atsushi has sensitive hearing because of his ability, but he's not used to it as the orphanage had pretty much destroyed it by damaging his ear drums, which took the tiger a while to heal. - Author out p.s. Don't ask how, I don't know either.) Atsushi took them, mumbling a thanks to Akutagawa before placing them in his ears, finally able to calm down with the voices of his classmates muffled. Atsushi was glad that he was sent here with Akutagawa because, although they usually didn't get along, they were still partners, and knew each other well. Akutagawa tapped Atsushi's shoulder and pointed towards two empty desks at the back, Atsushi nodded, and they walked over to put their stuff down. Luckily, no one noticed them, as most people's attention was on two other students towards the front of the room. One of the students had spiky blonde hair, he was getting yelled at by another student who had straight blue hair and glasses. Atsushi wasn't sure what they were yelling about, and he didn't really care, but the blue haired kid ended up waking away dejectedly before a green haired boy walked in. The blue kid walked up to the green one and apologized for something, but Atsushi wasn't paying much attention to them anymore. He just sat there next to Akutagawa for a couple minutes before a giant yellow slug made itself known and inched over to the pedestal, and a black haired scraggly looking man stepped out. The man introduced himself as Shouta Aizawa, their homeroom teacher. Their teacher wasted no time before telling the students to put on their PE clothes and head to the PE grounds, Atsushi and Akutagawa didn't question it, they assumed it was normal, but from the looks of surprise on their classmates faces, they quickly deduced that it was not normal. On their way to the PE grounds, many students were complaining about not being able to go to orientation, Akutagawa and Atsushi walked together in silence, listening to their classmates around them. The students separated into boys and girls before walking into their respective changing rooms, Atsushi and Akutagawa made no moves to change with all of the people in the room, to which they received some strange looks, but nothing else. Once the rest of their classmates had left the two changed in silence, only exchanging some words about how uncomfortable all the clothes this school gives out are, the two were actually excited for when they got their hero costumes as it was just their normal uniforms from the Port Mafia. The last two walk out of the changing room and their teacher says that they will be doing a Quirk Apprehension Test that will be judging the strength of their quirks. After getting a demonstration of an activity they will be doing, most of the class gets excited, thinking it will be fun. The teacher, obviously not pleased with this response, says that the student in last place will be expelled. The mafiosos see through his lie, but the others seemingly don't and many begin to panic. The mafiosos exchanged a glance and nodded, they both had nothing to worry about, their 'quirks' were strong enough and could get them through this easily.

Their bosses' words were replaying in both of their heads "Don't go all out on those poor children, they're too sheltered. What would we do if one of you accidentally killed one of the Hero Commissions precious specimens? Please do put in SOME effort, or at least make it seem as though you are struggling, you both have mostly mastered your abilities, those children have just begun training theirs, there mustn't be a large difference between you and them. I expect you both to return soon, this mission is not a particularly difficult one, especially with the agency's help."

His bosses' words fresh in his mind, Atsushi's determination spiked, he had to get this mission done, and quickly. The more time they spend here, the more likely they are to find out about who they are, or, the more likely Atsushi is to get attached to them.

A/N - I finally set an actual timeline for this! It's POST DOA arc, so there will be manga spoilers(I'll be sure to warn y'all before), and it's the best possible outcome(?). Atsushi joined the PM cause of the deal, and everyone lived(somehow), they do have scars tho, hence the not changing with everyone else(MANGA SPOILER- Akutagawa has a big scar on his neck and really didn't want to explain that he died once upon a time MANGA SPOILER END) Also Sigma joined the ADA cause he deserves it.
