The Quirk apprehension test was actually a bunch of physical activities that you could use your quirk to help excel in them, because of this Akutagawa had fallen behind Atsushi, especially after a sprint in which he just had to walk, his illness preventing him from running. The mafiosos weren’t struggling per se, they were mostly just bored. Throughout the tests, they didn’t fail to notice the presence around the corner that seemed to be watching the green haired boy, who was currently in last place. They had made it to the end of the tests, this was the one that the boy had demonstrated earlier, you were supposed to just throw a ball using your quirk, it was pretty simple.
“Who wants to go first?” The teacher said, a weird grin on his face, it was probably scary to some, but the two mafiosos had been in Mori’s presence long enough to know fear from a fake smile.
A girl with brown hair volunteered and stepped up to the circle before throwing the ball and activating her quirk, the ball floated and Aizawa turned the device towards the class to show that she had gotten infinity.
“She must have a quirk like Chuuya’s.” Atsushi whispered to Akutagawa.
“Indeed, though it must be weaker, more limitations or something to limit it like all quirks.” He whispered back.
Other students went before Akutagawa and Atsushi stepped up, Akutagawa going first.
“Rashomon.” He said, and a tendril appeared behind him that slowly snaked its way to Akutagawa’s hand, where it grabbed the ball and threw it. Akutagawa got 702.4 meters.
Atsushi raised his hand for a high-five, which Akutagawa promptly ignored, before stepping into the circle himself. He activated his ability, transforming his arm before taking the ball from Aizawa’s outstretched hand and throwing it. He got 709.4 meters. Atsushi smiled triumphantly before exiting the circle and resuming his place beside Akutagawa. More students went, none particularly note-worty. The last student to go was the green haired boy who was in last place, he tried to throw the ball, to which, nothing much happened, it was clear he didn’t use his quirk. The boy looked at their teacher, who had his quirk activated, their teacher explained that he could erase people’s quirks by looking at them.
“So like Dazai.” Akutagawa said, Atsushi responded with a nod.
“Who’s Dazai?” A yellow haired boy asked from behind them.
Atsushi turned, saying “A friend from back home.” and then turning back around to continue to watch the green haired boy.
Their teacher had pulled the boy aside to speak to him about something before they returned to the circle and the boy managed to throw the ball this time. His finger was obviously broken, and Atsushi, who had felt his pain many times before, winced at the sight. Bakugou, who’s name they had learned earlier, seemed angry at the fact the green haired kid had a quirk, saying things about how he had lied and why he was hiding his quirk, he ended up restrained by Aizawa’s capture tape.
The two mafiosos had already put together that the green haired kid(pls learn their names already, for my sake) was All Might's successor, one of the people Mori wanted more information on. Between the stalking, inconsistent control of his quirk, and the childhood ‘friend’ saying he’s quirkless, it wasn’t too hard to figure out. It was a wonder some of the other kids hadn’t put it together too. Some seemed to have a decent head on their shoulders, like the girl who looks like Gin, she’s pretty smart and is good at strategizing, and she was nice, which was a nice break from the mysterious schemers the two mafiosos have had to put up with. Their teacher was saying something about how he shouldn’t use his quirk too much because it causes dry eye before letting the blond kid go. The green haired kid, whose name they learned was Izuku, was in last place to no one's surprise. The kid seemed on the verge of panicking before their teacher told everyone he wasn't’ serious about expelling anyone, he just wanted them to do their very best. Most of them were shocked at this, a few nodding their heads in understanding, having seen this coming. Izuku was sent to the nurses office and came back exhausted during their English lesson. At lunch, neither of the mafiosos made a move to get food, both not used to eating at this time of day. They were called over to a table by a girl with pink skin whose name was Mina.
“Hey! Emo and bad haircut! You should come sit with us.” Mina said, walking up behind the two boys. Atsushi jumped away from her touch and Akutagawa just glared at her.
“Um… We’d love to?” Atsushi said, hesitantly.
“Aren’t you going to get lunch first?” Asked the yellow haired boy, whose name they learned was Denki.
“Oh, no. We’re not really used to eating right now.” Atsushi said, a nervous smile plastered on his face.
Mina frowned for a second, concerned, but quickly switched back to being bubbly “Then follow me! Our table’s over here.”
Atsushi and Akutagawa nodded, they followed Mina to a table while Denki went over to the line for food. The people seated at this table were Kirishima, Bakugou, Sero, and Jirou, who had sat away from most people, waiting for Denki to come back. Kirishima and Sero were talking about something while Jirou talked to Momo and Bakugou sat there in silence, eating his food. Mina walked up to the table with the two mafiosos in tow.
“Who’re those extras?” Bakugou huffed out, pausing his eating for a moment, the other two conversations also died down.
Mina stood there awkwardly “Do you guys wanna introduce yourselves? I actually never got your names…” she trailed off, slightly embarrassed that she just dragged two complete strangers to her lunch table.
“I’m Atsushi Nakajima! And this is Akutagawa Ryuunosuke.” The one with silver hair said.
“I don’t need you to introduce me, weretiger.” The other one huffed, glaring at Atsushi. Atsushi just nervously laughed before looking back at the table. “Any questions?” He said.
“Yeah!” Kirishima said “What’re your quirks?”
Atsushi was slightly taken aback by the direct question, they weren’t used to just getting asked up front what their abilities were, but he quickly recovered. “Mine allows me to turn into a tiger, though I can’t really control myself in a full transformation so I just transform different parts of my body.”
“That’s so cool!” Mina said, her eyes almost sparkling, then she turned to Akutagawa “Your turn!”
Akutagawa sighed “Mine is called Rashoumon, it allows me to make my clothes into a dark monster that is capable of tearing through space.” Akutagawa was worried his would sound too strong for a quirk, but these kids were clueless and just assumed there was a drawback he wasn’t telling them.
“How come you guys have such cool quirks?” Denki whined, seemingly appearing from nowhere.(totally not because I forgot he wasn’t present) Atsushi and Akutagawa just shrugged their shoulders at his question. At this point Mina had already sat down and there was enough room for both of them to sit next to her. Akutagawa took the initiative and sat next to Mina, as he was the one more adept to touching people he wasn’t familiar with, and Atsushi sat next to Akutagawa.
“Why’re you all piling up on this side, one of you go sit over there.” Bakugou said, glaring at Atsushi.
“We’re fine how we are, thank you.” Akutagawa responded, paying the blond little attention. Bakugou only scoffed in response.
The rest of lunch went by quickly with the two mostly conversing with themselves and occasionally Mina, Denki, and Jirou. Bakugou opted to ignore their presence. The two mafiosos got up to leave a couple minutes before the bell rang and walked out of the cafeteria early, earning a couple odd glances from curious students, though no one had the guts to ask thanks to Akutagawa’s opposing presence. The rest of the day went without a hitch, the only thing they did was get some free time as their teacher didn’t care what they did and was taking a nap in the corner. The two continued to get closer to the students they sat with at lunch, also getting approached by the kid with green hair, whose name they learned was Midoryida, but most people were calling him ‘Deku’, a nickname. They were bombarded with questions about their quirks from Deku, who wrote everything they told him down. Atsushi was slightly suspicious of the boy, his notebooks contained weaknesses of everyone in class, and some heroes, if this kid ever turned out to be a villain, this world was doomed. The mafiosos made sure not to tell the kid too much, if their identities ever got revealed, the weaknesses this kid had could easily be used against them, and they knew the kid wouldn’t have a problem doing so. Their first day ended with some ruled out suspects, and some they needed to keep a closer eye on, a couple students almost seemed to be adept at hiding their presence and hiding away from the spotlight, something the two were intimately familiar with. Once the bell rang that signified the end of the day, the two mafiosos walked out and waited by the schools gates for Kunikida and Tanizaki, once the two teachers appeared, they made their way to their apartments together.
“By the way, Kunikida” Kunikida hummed at his name “You were being watched walking out of the building.” Atsushi finished, turning to look at Kunikida, a small smile on his face. Kunikida just sighed, already feeling the headache from this added stress.
“So the traitor knows we know each other.” He said, more of a statement than a question.
“Yep!” Atsushi said “Though we never intended to hide it, and they stopped watching as soon as you met up with me and Ryuu, so I guess it’s someone from our class that's intimidated by him.”
“Good.” Akutagawa huffed from behind them “Makes them easier to catch.”
With their short conversation about the traitor out of the way, they continued on their way home.A/N - So idk if I wanna do the canon traitor or someone else, what do you guys think? I’m leaning more towards a non-canon traitor or at least another traitor with the canon one, otherwise it’s no fun and you guys don’t get another mystery to solve. Honestly I have no clue where this is going so it's a mystery to everyone! Anyways, have a good day!
