Chapter 9: The Incident

Atsushi and Akutagawa sat next to each other towards the front of the bus, in the seat right behind Kunikida and Tanizaki, the other students all piling into the seats behind them. The ride was relatively short, and mostly uninterrupted, the 1-A students too busy whispering about the new mysterious teacher and his sidekick to be their usual loud selves. The bus came to a stop and Kunikida stood, facing the students.

"Since I will be in charge of this training, I ask that you all listen to my instructions and follow them as best you can. My rules are there for your safety, so comply with them to keep this excursion safe for you and all of your classmates." He looked around at all the students on the bus, then announced "Exit your seats front to back, right to left and exit in a straight line please."

The students did just that, some respecting Kunikida and others finding him intimidating. Kunikida led them into a large building with padded floors and some standing dummies with targets on them lined up against a wall. The students gathered in front of where Kunikida, Tanizaki, and Aizawa had stopped.

Kunikida cleared his throat to get their attention, "First, I will go over the instructions for this lesson along with any and all rules to keep this as safe as possible. Then me and Mr. Aizawa will hold a demonstration spar for you all, then I will recap once again on the instructions." Many students led out protests or sighs to his tangent, which Kunikida responded to with a hardened glare.

"I suggest you take this seriously. Hand-to-hand combat is a necessary skill for heroes and it can be dangerous if not done properly." Kunikida looked back at his notebook and adjusted his glasses. "The instructions for this exercise are..."

Atsushi and Akutagawa had made their way to the back of the group of the students, Atsushi having assumed his position clinging to Akutagawa before they even left the classroom and had continued the whole way there.

"Did you hear what they were saying about Kunikida?" Atsushi whispered to Akutagawa, giggling.

"Yes." Akutagawa responded, sparing the boy on his arm a glance.

"They certainly have courage to say that when Kunikida could hear them." Atsushi mused, watching the students in front of them.

"Indeed."

"I kinda wanna break it down."

".... Atsushi," Akutagawa looked disappointingly at Atsushi "no."

"Maaan, you're no fun Akutagawa." Atsushi wined, swinging Akutagawa's arm.

Akutagawa glared at the tiger, "Will that not happen anyway?"

"Oh." Atsushi exclaimed, "I suppose it will."

"Mr. Aizawa and I will now demonstrate the activity." Kunikida finished his monologue.

"No quirks at all, correct?" Aizawa questioned, back away from Kunikida.

"Yep, no capture weapon either. Just plain hand to hand combat." Kunikida explained, straightening his suit.

Aizawa nodded and took off his capture weapon, throwing it to the side.

"It's been a long time since I've done this." Aizawa breathed before getting into his own position.

"It will be a good refresh then." Kunikida answered, getting into a stance different from Aizawa's.

Aizawa made the first move, rushing towards his opponent, reaching for Kunikida's head. Kunikida ducked and flipped Aizawa over his shoulder, quickly turning to face his opponent who had already landed on his feet behind Kunikida. Aizawa rushed at his opponent once again and unloaded a fury on punches that the younger man dodged. Kunikida grabbed one of Aizawa's wrists, twisting it until his thumb was pointed the opposite direction. Aizawa gritted his teeth in pain and attempted to kick Kunikida, which the younger jumped away from, releasing Aizawa's wrist. Kunikida surged forward while his opponent was recovering, Aizawa still managing to block all of his attacks. Aizawa attempted to take advantage of the predictability of Kunikida's attacks, lunging forward to grab Kunikida's arm but he was met with Kunikida flipping him, and not being able to get his feet under him, he fell to the floor. Aizawa closed his eyes and took a deep breath, opening them to Kunikida reaching a hand out towards Aizawa to help him up. Aizawa took the younger man's hand, stood up and shook his hand before letting go to brush his clothes off. The class stared in awe, amazed by just how fast they both were.

"You are a formidable opponent, Aizawa-sensei. There is no guarantee that I would win if we were to spar again." Kunikida said, bowing to Aizawa.

Aizawa nodded and Kunikida turned back towards the class.

"That is basically what you guys will be doing today. I'll allow you to choose your sparring partner. You have 5 minutes to get paired up before I go over the rules and begin the exercise." Kunikida explained.

The students relaxed once Kunikida turned his back and quickly got into their pairs, the two mafiosos going unbothered with Atsushi's clinging clearly telling others who they were paired with.

"Weretiger," Akutagawa paused until Atsushi 'hm'd in acknowledgment, then continued. "Would it not be advisable to pair with the students?"

"Of course not! They'd get suspicious if we're too good. We can put on a show together but the students wouldn't get the memo." The tiger whined.

"Fine, Weretiger. We can spar, as usual." AKutagawa sighed, giving into the dangerous boy.

Just as the students had picked their teams, their teachers turning to face them and continue the instruction, a purple and black misty portal opened behind their teachers. Tanizaki, who was still turned around and facing the same way as the students, was the first to act, quickly backing towards the students with his quirk active to hide them from the intruder's gaze. Some students were mesmerized by the green snow falling around them and had to be pulled towards Tanizaki by other students who had noticed the mysterious portal and Tanizaki's reaction to it. By the time the portal was large enough to allow a person to walk out, the students were hidden by Tanizaki's ability and the teachers were facing the portal, Aizawa's quirk already active and Kunikida with a flash bang in hand.

"Listen," Tanizaki started. "Nobody else talk, if you do, you become visible because I can't hide sound. We're going to slowly move towards the door and leave. My illusions will hide us the whole way and it will also hide the door opening. If you decide to stay and fight then have fun being expelled for breaking the law and fighting without a license. I only give you permission to fight in self defense. Is that clear?"

Most students nodded their heads, a determined look on their faces, a select few looked nervous and nodded their heads later than the rest.

"Good. Now on my mark we take a single step forward, try not to move away from me too much, or you could become visible."

As Tanizaki worked on evacuating the students, the teachers were facing the intruders.

The one with the light blue-gray hair scratched his neck, looking around while saying "Where are the students?" his red eyes locked onto the teachers, specifically Kunikida. "Who are you? I was told All Might would be here."

"I'm Kunikida, a new teacher at UA, and unfortunately, you won't be seeing the students anytime soon." Kunikida said coldly before throwing the flash bang.

Kunikida worked quickly, grabbing Aizawa and dragging him behind Kunikida as he ran towards the exit, yelling for Tanizaki to continue hiding the students as they evacuated. Tanizaki opened the door to outside and motioned for all the students to run out and follow their teachers. Suddenly, a large blue creature that was vaguely human with its brain showing crashed what was supposed to be a closed door, grabbing a certain yellow haired student. 

A/N: So, it's been awhile, huh? Super sorry about that, I was focused on school and then I just didn't feel like writing for most of the summer because of some other things going on. Hope you guys enjoy this chapter. I'm not sure when the next one will be out bc I'm starting school in like 2 weeks but I'm gonna start working on it now so it should hopefully be out faster than this one was.
