Eloise was on her way back home from a secret meeting with Theo when she was suddenly stopped by the Queen's guards. They searched her belongings and found nothing, but they still accused her of being Lady Whistledown.

Eloise was shocked and confused. She had heard of Lady Whistledown, the mysterious writer who had been causing a stir in London with her scandalous gossip and opinions. But Eloise had nothing to do with her, and she couldn't understand why she was being accused.

The guards brought her before the Queen, who was sitting on her throne with a stern expression on her face.

"Eloise Bridgerton," the Queen said in a cold voice. "I have reason to believe that you are Lady Whistledown and that you have been spreading false information and seditious thoughts throughout my kingdom."

Eloise's heart raced with anxiety as she stood before the Queen, desperately trying to convince her of the truth. "Your Majesty, I assure you, I am not Lady Whistledown. I have never penned a single word under that name," she pleaded, her voice quivering with sincerity.

The Queen's gaze remained stern, her expression unreadable. "Lady Bridgerton, the evidence against you is compelling. You have three days to present yourself to society and address these allegations, or you shall face the consequences for spreading misinformation."

Defiance surged within Eloise's chest, her determination ignited by the injustice of the situation. She would not let the weight of false accusations crush her spirit. With a resolute nod, she vowed, "I shall find the real Lady Whistledown and expose the truth. I will not allow my name to be tarnished by another's misdeeds."

Determined to unravel the mystery, Eloise sought solace in the presence of her dear friend Penelope Featherington. As they sat in a secluded corner of Penelope's parlor, Eloise shared the Queen's ultimatum and her unwavering determination to uncover the truth.

Penelope's eyes widened further as she absorbed the gravity of the situation. Although she tried to pacify her friend , she knew she had to do something.
