The Tesseract has awakened. It is on a little world, a human world. They would wield its power, but our ally knows its workings as they never will. He is ready to lead and our force, our Chitauri, will follow. A world will be his. The universe, yours. And the humans, what can they do but burn?
——— SURROUNDED BY BOOKS, piles of parchment, of quills, of maps — Triston Thorson had been awake for hours, continuing on his research in the Palace's library. His eyes hurt from being tired but also from the amount of words he read in one setting. His undereyes were starting to swell, and he was starting to became pale. But he wouldn't give up. He would never give up.
Ever since discovering that Lidianna Lokisdottir was still alive, Triston had worn himself out trying to track her down. Trying to figure out where she could be.
For the past year, Triston had spent his days in the Palace library, researching relentlessly. He'd spent them on Vanaheim and the other realms, tracking down leads. But always came up empty.
Everyone around him wanted him to give up his search, to give up on Lidianna. She clearly didn't want to be found or else she would have already. But Triston wouldn't give up. He wouldn't let Lidianna go.
Only one other person felt the same as he did. Only one other person needed to find Lidianna, unable to let her go.
The doors of the library opened up and Triston glanced up to find Lady Rune Kaelansdottir stroll in, holding a fresh cup of tea. The Lady Aunt sent him a warm smile before placing it before him. "I know you aren't a tea person...but this should help you focus," Lady Rune told him and Triston nodded before taking the cup in his hand, taking a sip of the hot drink. He smacked his lips in delight before getting back to researching, flipping a page from the book. Lady Rune walked around him, sitting in a seat nearby. "Have you found anything new that could find Lidianna?"
Triston shook his head no and the Lady Aunt sighed sadly. "Are we going crazy?" she asked and he suddenly looked at her, "It's been a year and we can't find a thing—"
"We shouldn't give up, Aunt Rune," he said as she tensed up, "We can't give up. We just — can't."
There was silence between them again as Triston looked back at his book, flipping the pages. He would find her. As long as he breathed, he wouldn't stop searching until he found her.
As if one cue, an Einherjar guard came bursting in, causing Triston and Rune to immediately place their eyes on him, the Prince rising to his feet. The guard had a knowing look on him, a look Triston was able to decipher.
