Chapter 5 : Good-bye

I arrived in front of the school, stepping out of my car and making my way to the notice board where students were allocated classes based on their marks.

As I glanced at the board, my eyes widened at the person in 2nd place – "Wait, Aakana is 2nd after me!?"

Interrupting my thoughts, Aakane, my first friend. "Hey (Y/n), you didn't tell me you were going to attend the same school as me."

Seeing her in a school uniform, "She looks stunning! but I shouldn't mention attending this school because of her."

Nonetheless, I responded smoothly, "Yeah, I was surprised when my parents suggested this school." With a flawless lie, I continued, "Anyways, Aakane, looks like we're classmates from now on." We exchanged smiles.

Aakane: "Yeah, we can spend more time together in school!"

As we walked to class, both of us smiled, anticipating the days ahead.

Skipping through mundane class activities, I excelled academically, securing top scores in tests and exams. In physical education, I continued to outshine others, excelling in various sports, "Cause I'm him!"

Aakane proved excellent in studies but remained above average in sports. As the days passed, pre-school life concluded, and we both graduated.

(A/n): Hi, a quick note – this school is fictional, so I've fictionalized the school years too. Pre-grade 3-10, Middle 11-14 (year 1,2,3), High 14-16, 1 year: 16-17, 2 years: 17-18, 3: years 18-19 (graduation).

During vacation, Aakane and I hung out at her apartment, playing Mortal Kombat. When a knock on the door interrupted our game.

*Knock* knock*

(Y/n): "Did you invite anyone?"

(Aakane): "No, I haven't invited anyone."

I decided to check it out.

Opening the door, I encountered a man and a woman in fancy attire, eventually realizing they were Aakane's parents. After a playful surprise, they thanked me for looking after Aakane.

The scene shifted to Aakane's panic as her dad played a prank on her my acting as if he was kidnapping me and her. After the laughter subsided, Aakane's parents dropped the bombshell that was the size of castle bravo. – they were transferring to the United States.

(Y/n): "What? Is this for real?" Aakane's dad nodded, and I noticed tears in Aakane's eyes.

(Aakane): "Dad, I don't want to go away from (Y/n). I'll be all alone again." She hugged me tightly, tears streaming down her face.

After a some time of crying Aakane's calmed down a bit, her dad cleared his throat, announcing the transfer to the United States wasn't permanent.

(Aakane): " So does this mean we're coming back to Japan?" Her dad assured her it was temporary work, and a small smile appeared on Aakane's face.

(Aakane): "(Y/n), will you promise me that you will never forget me once I am gone?"

(Y/n): "Of course not. You were my very first friend, Aakane. It's a promise."

(Aakane): "Pinky promise."

(Y/n): "Yes, pinky promise. I will never forget you."

With those words, Aakane left Japan for the USA, marking the end of their time together.
