He watched from the dark corner of her room as Persephone shot straight up in bed.

His projection into her mind had come easily to him, for she was merely a human.

Sweat glued hair to the side of her face as her chest rose and fell.

She had found him both frightening and attractive, he knew. Although he controlled most everything in her dream except her reaction, he was in tune to her every thought during the process.

He had brought her to his room with him, and laid them together, giving him just a taste of what the rest of eternity would be like for him.

He watched as she glanced around the room, focusing on his corner before moving on. She couldn't see him if she tried. He had shrouded himself in darkness, an even if she lit the room, he would be gone before the switch flicked.

He stood and after a few minutes Persephone's heart rate slowed and fatigue began to set in as she lay back down and soon went to sleep. Hearing her steady, even breaths, he knew she was asleep again. For tonight, he was done invading her dreams.

In less than a second, he was by her side, brushing a strand gently away from her face, just as he had done in the projection. Her skin was a smooth ivory, warm to the touch and soft, he could feel her veins just below the surface, pumping blood through her slim body.

Even to a human she would seem delicate, but to him and his strength, she was more fragile than a flower petal. He longed to pull her small frame into his arms and to his chest.

Soon. Very soon.
He had his plan and just in the near future she would be his.

And he could do as he wished. But not just yet.

He placed a kiss to her pulsing temple, a reminder to his ears that she was only human, decided against laying down beside her, he moved to the desk chair. For he knew if he lay beside her he would not be able to control himself. So instead he sat stiffly in her desk chair and watched her sleep.

It was nearing three in the morning and he was still watching the girl soon to be his sleep when he heard the call. It was a mind link.

"Alastair."

He sighed, knowing he had duties to attend to.

"Give me two minutes," was his only reply as he moved, slowly for him but normal speed to a human, to her bedside again, gently tracing the outline of her face, running his thumb over her pouting lips, whispering, "See you soon, my love," before dashing out to attend to his duties.
