From: Tanner
Hey Babe, cool if I come over?

Can't I'm getting ready                                                          Bonfire remember
You shouldn't go. It's not safe.   Ian's coming with.     I'll be fine. Ian?

I locked my phone and returned to my makeup, paying extra attention to covering the mark on my face left over from the attack.

Thankfully it was no longer swollen, just bruised. I don't have the energy to focus on explaining Ian to Tanner. I will tell him at Sunday dinner, if I'm sober enough. I plan on getting so drunk that Ian has to carry me back to the car. This is my first night out in two years and I intend on making use of every second of it.
Once I finished my makeup, I walked to my floor length mirror and accessed myself. In case I needed an outfit change or possibly to change shoes, but I found no errors in what I had chosen.

I had curled my long blonde hair in loose waves that fell over my shoulders. My spaghetti strapped white lace sundress showed the perfect amount of cleavage to look like it was an accident. The truth is I had done it on purpose, I'm not looking for any sort of attention, I just needed to feel hot. I slid on a pair of high heel sandals, not that it would matter. I'll take them off as soon as we reach the sand.
At 8:00 I stepped out of my room and snuck past my father's office, shuffling my steps till I'm outside of the house. I know Ian had likely told my father what I planned to do but I want to avoid the earful from him about it. I will be safe if Ian is there, there is no need for a lecture.

Ian had already brought the Tahoe around and is waiting outside the car for me. He had dressed casually like he said he would. Black jeans and a white t shirt. One that showed the tattoos wrapping around his muscular arms. Yep, it's a sleeve. He had a few on his left arm, but the right was smothered in grey and black artwork.

Definitely not a polo guy. Swallowing hard I began reminding myself of the personality that overtook those looks.
No matter what he wears Ian is going to stand out tonight to everyone. Either because of jealousy or because they are interested. I am even finding it hard to look away from him. Rina was right, it is a shame a man so fine could be so shitty.
"Ready?" He didn't bother to look up from his phone at me before he opened his door and climbed behind the wheel. Not waiting for an answer.

I rolled my eyes and walked to the passenger side, opened the door, and climbed in.                     Ian stared at me as I buckled my seatbelt.

"What is it, Ian?" I practically groaned.

"Did you not bring a jacket?"                                                I crossed my arms under my cleavage. I know very well he is not referring to my shoulders being cold, but me being covered. "No, we're going to be at a bonfire."
His eyes flicked over me, my skin heated under his gaze, and I was suddenly wishing Tanner had come. That way I would feel a bit more guilty about my body's reaction to him.
"You're going to get cold." he said in aggravation as he adjusted his mirror and pulled out of the driveway.

"If I get cold, I haven't drunk enough."

A small smile appeared on his lips but faded as if he realized he'd be the sober one to look after me.
"Here" he reached inside the center console and pulled out a granola bar, extending it to me. My stomach practically growled in response to the sight of it.
"I'm fine." If I eat that now, then my body will be even hungrier later on and it will break the fast I've been working on the past few days in preparation for the calories in alcohol I will be consuming tonight.
