Every Sunday Letty Folles, Ron Folles and Tanner Folles come over for dinner. It is the only time in the Emorie household that the dining room is used aside from certain holidays when Forks hosts different politicians for dinner and parties where Quinn is shown off like a prize.
Once a week though, the dinner table is set with the good China, wine is poured and there is a common forced illusion of being happy loving families. They all knew the truth though; they all knew it was a lie. But so was the way of all politicians and honestly Quinn never felt a reason to call any of them out for their part in the lie. She kind of liked the lie, she reveled in it, one day a week they all acted like there was nothing wrong and ate. Discussing the weather, the local politics, food recipes and the past.
Last Sunday Quinn woke up hung over and fought with Tanner and the show was cancelled for the day. But today it continued, a tradition she was desperately looking forward to. A week without it really made her appreciate today. Sitting around the dinner table with her father, Tanner, and his parents.
Ian, John and a few of her father's details were not far away of course. In fact, this morning when she awoke the number of men and women in suits standing guard was almost as heightened as the morning after she was attacked. She was sure it had to do with the fact their guests were important just as they were, and it was not quite knowledge they held Sunday dinners together. In fact, it was talked about frequently in the news and local papers when either of the families were addressed.
"This is very tasty Forks." Letty said and Ron grunted his response.
"Yes, I just love lobster." Tanner chimed taking a bite of his food.
Quinn gave him a sidelong look remembering the conversation they shared just days before. He remembered too and gave her a wink. Telling her he'd much rather be eating pancakes than lobster and steak.
"I'm glad you enjoy it, our new chief Cremon came highly recommended, and I am beginning to see why." Forks replied. Of course, he had to throw around money, that's what it usually was between the two families. A show of money and power.
Quinn took a long sip of her wine, ignoring the look Letty gave her husband Ron. No doubt about it they would have a private chief by the time summer ended.
"Do you kids have any plans for the fourth yet?" Letty moved the conversation from wealth to Tanner and Quinn. It was common practice at the table and in politics. Anytime tensions rose Letty and Forks used their children being "in love" as a scape goat.
Quinn looked to her dad for an answer, with the fourth two days away she hadn't planned anything because he usually threw a party of some kind. If she made plans ahead of time, she would have to cancel them.
"I will be in Raleigh for the next two weeks, so sadly no party this year." He replied to her stare with the most hopeful news she could ask for. Her fathers' parties were the driest thing possible for anyone under the age of 45.
"In that case, my friends are throwing a boat party. You should join." Tanner added.
The boat parties weren't exactly to her taste either. Cocaine, ipa's, and young people discussing politics. But she was trying now, she was trying with Tanner.
"Sounds fun."
"As long as Ian escorts you, I see no issue."
"Ian?" Ron asked, finally coming up for a breath of air from his plate.
"Ian Is her security detail." Tanner answered for Quinn and Ron nodded his head in understanding.
"I suppose you are on edge since the attack. We were so worried when we heard." Letty clutched her pearled chest as if she was sick remembering the attack.
