Captain Bradley:
I'm in dry clothes the first time all day. It was our first day diving looking for the Skull Gem. We didn't find it, of course. I didn't expect to find a tiny rock floating on the ocean floor on the first day. We did find random trinkets and treasures, which my crew decided to pile in my room for safe keeping since I'm the only one without a bunk mate. When we get back to Parmenia, we'll sell what we've found and split the earnings. It won't be much, but you have to find little victories where you can.
Speaking of little victories, I'm starving and dinner smells delicious. I'm walking into the mess hall much later than everyone else is, but I needed some alone time. I'm angry and irritable for many reasons.
When I walk through the doors, I see the two crews mingled together and laughing. They've gotten more comfortable with each other over the weeks, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Nobody seems to notice I've even came in the room. I walk over to the large pots and dish myself some food, watching them interact.
"Dean was making it out to be a huge deal!" Echo says, mocking offense.
"It's really not bad," Hadrien says, towering over Echo so I can't see what they're talking about. "It's barely a scrape."
"A scrape?" Adrie, one of my divers, exclaims. "I'd be pissed if someone did that to me!"
"Someone get Morgan," Blake, one of my sailors, calls.
Morgan is a cook, but he also has a lot of experience in medicine. Echo must have gotten injured. I lean to the side, trying to catch a glimpse of her around all the bodies laughing and standing around her. Morgan is at a table with Totem, Zelle, Gould, and Bart. He rolls his eyes and stands up, sauntering over to Echo.
"Yeesh," he says, getting closer. The crowd shuffles and I see him bent over looking at her... breasts? "That's a pretty bruise. Does it hurt?"
"Not unless I touch it," Echo replies, extending her neck.
"It was bleeding," Dean grumbles at the end of the table.
"It seems to be just a little scraped skin. If it's not hurting and you cleaned it well, you should be fine. Let me know if you start to feel excess pain or get a fever," Morgan replies.
"Thank you," Echo says with a smile. She turns to face Dean down the table and I get a perfect view of her bruised neck. The skin is shiny, like it has some kind of oil on it, but it doesn't look too bad. "You had me really scared," she tells Dean with playful anger.
Dean rolls his eyes and continues eating his food. Did he do that to her?
"Maybe you should take your shirt off and let us check for more bruises," Fenix grins.
"You can say that again," Robby, my fisherman, laughs. He slings an arm around Fenix.
"You are pigs," Becks, my sailor says.
"The offer stands for you, too, sweetheart," Robby says to her, smiling.
"If you want to see some bruises, I can give you a couple," Becks shoots back, her grin wide.
"Watch out Robby," O'Neal chimes in, laughing. "The last time someone pissed off Becks, they disappeared for a few weeks."
"He had no survival skills!" Becks says, rolling her eyes. "It's not my fault he got lost."
"How is it not your fault?" Jonesie shouts. "You walked me out to the middle of nowhere and jumped off a cliff!"
"It's called cliff-diving!" Becks yells back at her brother.
