The gym was filled with excitement as it seemed everyone from town decided to show up for the first game of the season. I was annsy as I kept repeating the steps to our routines in my head. It was finally time as we all went to the door by the locker room and put or arms up like and arch way for the players to go under. Finally the guys came out. All us cheerleaders shaking our pom poms over their heads. As we were cheering ,the star player glancing over at me smiling as he went through causing me to do the same. The guys were warming up and we were getting the crowd ready. And finally the game started.

It was the last quarter of the game and BHHS was down by four all we needed were two more baskets to be tied up and three to win. Cameron passed the ball to Derek and he easily made a basket. My brothers were doing really good on defense, but I had to give it to Derek he was the better player by far. Darren caught the ball and passed it to Derek with him running and making a layup. The teams were finally tied and now all we needed was one more basket. I looked at the board seeing there was only 45 seconds left and counting. Come on let's go guys! The other team had the ball. Ian snuck in and took the ball dribbling it down the court up until he got blocked. He was struggling to find an open shot and then finally Derek came up and took the ball and shooting it as the buzzard sang. A swish sound felt everyone's ears as we won the game! As the crowd started to fill the gym floor I was looking for someone in particular. Derek was nowhere to be found. I finally looked toward the doors toward the locker room and saw someone slip out, so I followed.

As I etched toward the locker room I had a goose bumps all over, something felt off. I opened and herd what sounded to be, growling? "Derek?", no one answered. "Derek is that you?", I came closer into view to see a shadow along the conor of the room. I slowly walked up to the dark figure, who was breathing very heavily. "Stay back Illizabeth!" From the sound of that voice I knew it was Derek, but something was a little off. "Derek what's wrong? Are you okay?" Not listening to what he just said, I  walk closer to him. I was behind him and slowly reach out to touch his shoulder, "Derek?" He slowly turned his head toward me until our eyes meet. "Hey, are you okay?", he looked at me confused. He huridly took his hands to touch his face, " Um, yeah. I'm fine." I smiled at him as he did the same, "You played a really good game tonight, if that's what was bothering you." He chuckled, "Thanks, you make a pretty good cheerleader." "Well I try", this causes us both to laugh. I didn't realize how close our faces were to each other until I looked up to meet his eyes. We both started leaning in slowly. I closed my eyes and finally, our lips touched. His lips were so soft against mine, I felt like I was in heaven. He finally removed his lips from mine, I'll admit I was a bit disappointed. " They're coming", he said with his forehead resting on mine. "Who's coming?", I asked confused and still trying to catch my breath. " The team, they're coming. As much as I hate to say it, you should probably leave before coach catches you in here. " I slowly nodded my head and walked out I heard loud cheers coming down the hallway so I hurriedly ran and hide around the corner. The last thing I need is Daren and Ian to question me about why I was leaving the boys locker room.

When I finally caught up with my brothers we left for home. The only thing that kept going through my mind was, what happened to Derek?
