Meeting the Family

  It's been a month since Derek and I have gotten together and he said it was time for me to finally meet his family. I will admit I was nervous and it made it worse when we were driving up the driveway. "Will you stop worrying", Derek said. " What makes you think I'm worried? " he just turned to give me that 'are you kidding' look. "Okay, fine. It's just I want them to like me is all." "They'll love you, just as much as I do." Man I hope he's right. As we walked towards the door, a woman with brown hair and a warm smile meet us. "Hello, you must be Illizabeth. I'm Derek's mom, Talia." "It's nice to meet you," I said as she welcomed us in. Everyone was getting ready to go into the dinning room. I noticed a girl, a senior. "Hi, I'm Laura. Your Daren's sister right?" I smiled at her, " Yeah, that's me", everyone seems so nice and makes you feel right at home here. "Hi! I'm Derek's favorite sister Cora." I noticed her and Laura making sneer faces at each other. "Why is it so hard for you guys to stay out of my- oh, we have a guest. Hello beautiful." I heard Derek, well, it seemed like he just growled? "Okay, that's enough. Let's eat shall we", Derek's father said.

  Dinner was going well and everyone was smiling and laughing. It was finally over and I was helping Talia with the dishes. " You know I haven't seen my son this happy in forever. I would like to thank you for that." She looked at me with her warming smile, "oh um, your welcome. He makes me really happy to." I wonder why he wasn't happy? She I went to put the plates in the cabinet, that's when I heard her whisper, "Just like her mother". How does she know my mom? Do our parents know each other some how? Just then Derek came in, " Mom, if you don't mind I would like to steal my girlfriend back please." Talia and I couldn't help but laugh, "She's all yours." And with that Derek and I left the kitchen.

We walked upstairs and reached a door, "And this is my room", Derek said as he opened the door. It was big and spacious, your typical boys room. I walked over and sat on the edge of his bed and smiled at him. He walked over and sat next to me. His hand gently stroked my cheek and rested his forehead onto mine. "I've wanted to do this all night", as he leaned in and and kissed me. At first it was nice and slow, it then turned into heated and the feeling of wanting more. I slowly lowered me down onto his bed and started sending kisses down my neck. I had to stop this before anything big started to happen. " Derek." He didn't hear me, so I took my hands and lifted his face. His eyebrows shot up, "Its not that I truly don't love what your doing, its just I think we should take it slow. For now any way." This made him smile, "We still get to make out right?" I answered his question by kissing, making this the best night of my life.

When I got home that night I noticed my mom sitting at the kitchen table doing bills. "Hey mom, what ya doin'?" She looked up with a face of I had no idea you walked in. "Hi honey, how was dinner?" "It was fine great actually. They're all really nice." I started to walk towards the stairs when I finally remembered something, "Hey mom." "Yes sweetie?" I have to know the answer,"How do you and Derek's parents know each other?" She looked at me with eyes that looked like, panic? "Oh I forgot to tell you, I um met his mother at the market the other day." I really wanted to believe her, I mean shes my mother! But the way she was acting when I asked her said another story. "Oh okay", was all I said as I started to head for my room. Just then I heard her hollar for my dad. What's going on?
