SATURDAY NIGHT —
almost should've never happenedI stare at my reflection, pushing my hair off my forehead to flip my cap backwards. Robin forced me into an outfit. After we won the game, we went straight back to her house, and she played dress up with me and Liv. Thought we needed, in her words "A spice up".
I was wearing baggy jeans, a ripped white shirt that showed the waistband of my boxers underneath and a small part of my abdomen with a dark blue cropped button up.
"I would wanna fuck my reflection too if I looked like you." Liv giggles, nuzzling into my side. She stinks of alcohol.
"How much have you had to drink?" I ask out of concern.
"Just a couple warmup drinks to get the blood flowing through my veins."
"You're wasted, Liv. We've only been here fifteen minutes."
"Shhhh, don't kill my buzz. Let me be drunk and happy."
"The only thing being killed tonight is your brain cells."
"Hey!"
"I'm just joking." I squeeze her in my arms. Whenever she drinks too much, she becomes overly sensitive. Not to mention clingy and affectionate.
"Come do shots with meeeee." Liv pulls me over to the drinks table. I'm surprised she doesn't detach my arm from the socket.
I support her weight when she starts to stagger slightly. "If I drink, whose driving us all home?"
"Home? We're not going home! Angie said we can crash here." She picks up a shot glass with a strong scent of vodka and lemon. "Let go of your responsibilities for one night, Maise. You've earned it after the work we put in today."
I take the cup from her hand. "You'll say anything to get me to drink with you."
Liv gives me that cheesy smile of hers. "Guilty as charged. Now bottoms up."
We take a shot each, grimacing in sync before reaching for another.
"You fucking assholes!" Keli storms over, glaring at both of us. "You guys are cheating on me now."
"Liv was practically forcing it down my throat."
"Did she also force you to swallow?"
"No."
"Then you're a cold hard criminal!" Keli smacks the back of my head.
"Watch the hat!" I huff. "Besides, you vanished on us first. You told us you were only going to talk to Robin for two minutes, then ten minutes later you accuse us of cheating."
"They weren't accusations.. we did cheat on her." Liv mumbles.
"Liv, you're not helping me plead this case."
"Sorry, I'll shut up." She giggles.
"That is so Joe Goldberg of you to time how long I was gone for."
"I'm just a concerned best friend. You're supposed to be flattered."
"Oh, I'm like so turned on right now." She says sarcastically. "Are one of you going to pour me a drink?"
