"You miss him that much?"
Chidi mock glares at her phone, snooping over her shoulder. On it is a photo collage of her and Vincent.
Nova, Chidi, and Caine are in a car, on the way to the Osaka Continental, where Caine is certain he is at.
"Stop, you know we hardly spend time away from each other, Chidi." Nova glares at him. He chuckles at her as they arrive.
"Looking dapper, Caine." Nova compliments him as they exit the car.
"You think so? Thanks." He takes the compliment. She smiles as Chidi walks right behind them.
"Wait here." Nova tells him as they walk to the entrance. Nova suddenly feels a weight on her shoulders, a presence.
She continues with a frown.
"If they don't cooperate, then you can give it a try." He nods. Nova walks a beat in front of her men, keeping in a close group as people start to stare at them.
At the desk, The Concierge, Akira Koji greets them with a smile until she spots the pins on their chests. Nova speaks first.
"The manager, please." She demands.
"Right away, miss. Please, make yourselves comfortable" Akira fake smiles, panicking internally.
Novalie observes this as Chidi leads her to sit on a couch. Her attention is caught by a man with a dog. He looks around with a knowing look. Novalie notes him in her mind.
The manager walks slowly with his guards surrounding him. Nova looks around as everyone leaves except for the staff.
She sighs as she realizes her thoughts were right. He will not give him up.
"Gentlemen, how may I be of service?" He greets with a hospitable smile, clocking Chidi, who stands in front of Nova.
Nova steps him and walks forwards.
"Manager Koji." She greets the
manager with a smile."And you are?" He asks, studying her face, finding her eerily familiar.
"The Marchioness De Gramont." She introduces herself without her name, knowing that's what he was asking for.
"I see."
"The Marquis De Gramont believes you may be providing your services to one that is excommunicated." She says to him. The manager takes a minute to respond.
"That is a grave accusation, Marchioness." He stares at her silently.
"We will require access to all of your facilities." Chidi sighs impatiently.
"Of course..." The manager then demands the group hand over their firearms.
Chidi warns him of this, and the manager makes a rebuttal of comparing fools to cowards to smart men.
Caine reveals himself then. Koji looks at the man in disappointment, accusing him of being with them.
"No!" Caine snaps sadly, and Koji nods in understanding.
"Your daughter." Caine nods.
"And how is she?"
"Alive. And Akira?"
"Well," Caine lights up at his opportunity.
"You know who else is alive and well? Novalie." Caine points his Caine in her general direction, and she looks at Chidi in anger and confusion.
Who are all these old men? Koji's gaze snaps to her in shock. He studies her facial features.
"Of course, Novalie." He whispers, although everyone hears.
"Enough!" Chidi yells, sensing his boss' unease and shock, he gets back to business.
"...This hotel has been deconsecrated." Nova's hearing comes back as the announcement is made.
Caine warns his old friend one last time, before apologizing to him in a calm whisper, then he disappears.
The archers are already lined up, and Chidi shields Nova as the arrows fly.
"Kill them!" He signals, and fighting breaks out. Nova slices her way to the manager, who's attention had subtly been on her since the fight started.
He was better than her as they clashed, but he would not kill her, he'd never even raised his blade.
