John lays his eyes on her for the first time in many years.
"Novalie." He whispers in surprise.
"How are you?" She has no idea what to say, not to that. She moves her eyes to his, though. Be strong. Be confident.
"Never thought I'd get to meet the infamous John Wick. Not since you'd retired to live out your life with your loving wife." John flinches at the jab, hanging his head in shame. Nova wouldn't get answers from him here, and she knew it.
"I'm almost honored to make you acquaintance. I'm Novalie Bisset, The Marchioness De Gramont." John flinches at each word, not unnoticeably.
"The Ruska Roma," John starts.
"I'm happy with my husband, Mr. Wick. I'm sure you were happy with your spouse. Did you want children with her?" She snaps.
"I knew I'd never be able to raise a child." He says solemnly.
"You? Incapable?" scoff
"Don't insult your bloodline, John." She grits out. He stays silent."I know what you're doing." She suddenly speaks again. Looking up at her, he's surprised at her expression.
"Anyone but him, John. The one thing I'll ever ask of you." Nova warns. Caine and John ponder her words, and Killa looks on in confusion.
"You never gave me a family and now you're going to take the one I created away from me. That is a horrible idea." He recognizes the cold look of potential loss in her eyes. The look in his own eyes as his wife was dying. The same look when he found the puppy his wife gifted him dead in front of his eyes.
Somebody walks up to the table to announce another's arrival.
The Tracker.
"Is this for me Mr..."
"Nobody." Nova rolls her eyes.
"No, it's actually for him." Killa laughs.
"Then take a seat." The conversation continues with John keeping worried eyes on Nova.
"So, you want to kill him," He points at Caine.
"You want to kill him," Mr. Nobody.
"I want to kill him, what about you, Mr. Wick?" He finally takes his eyes off his daughter.
"I'm going to kill you."
"Oh, for Petyr. Of course, ya." He laughs again, Novalie winces at her new least favorite sound.
"And you, Marchioness?" Everyone looks at her as she twirls her hair.
"It looks like you have a genuine conundrum here, boys." Killa laughs at her response.
"A Quandary, ya?" He introduces the card game then, announcing the winner as possibly the only survivor at the table.
"Wait a minute-" Caine and John chime in synchronously.
"The Marchioness is in no danger." Killa assures with a wicked smile.
"Nova, maybe you should go." Caine says. John nods. Killa and Mr. Nobody look at Nova's incredulous face.
"You heard him. I'm in no danger." She grits out, trying to come up with any response that won't sound childish, and parent deprived. Killa starts the game then, offering cards to Nova, who puts her hand up to decline politely. He hands her a singular card as John and Mr. Nobody speaks about money.
Queen of hearts. She rolls her eyes and hands the card back, which he shuffles with a low chuckle, and keeps dealing the cards.
Novalie disassociates yet again until Killa Harkan reveals his winning draw.
"Let me guess, five of a kind?" Nova glances at his cards before leaning back with a huff.
"Yeah." Resounded by the three of them. John and Caine share a moment of agreement before John turns to Novalie, who stares at him blankly.
"I guess it's time for me to go home." Nova sighs dramatically. Killa nods.
Before she can leave though, Killa makes some stupid comment about Petyr, and of course, her father reacts. The room erupts in chaos as she keeps to the side of the room, taking out her phone and calling her husband. Not a smart move since bullets are flying around her, something she doesn't think of until he answers.
"Oops." Bang! Bang!
"Nova?!" Bang! Vincent's worried voice rings through the phone. Bang! Bang!
"Don't worry Vince. No one's shooting at me."
Bang!
"Ahh!" Nova screams and lands on the ground with a thud. Vincent's now enraged, loud pleas are heard all around the room as she drops the phone on her fall to the ground.
