John Wick walks up the snowy stairs of the gravesite of Charon, Winston gazes at the view as he approaches behind him.
"Winston." John acknowledges, offering his condolences for the deceased concierge.
"...taken for our sins." Winston faces John as he pulls out a pin.
"Who is this?" Winston's eyes widen slightly, just now remembering the presence of Novalie in the Marquis office. Amidst the loss of his friend, he'd forgotten to warn John that his daughter was no longer in the safe arms of The Ruska Roma. He gulps.
"The Marquis De Gramont. Elevated only by his guarantee of killing you. All the resources of the table are at his disposal." He replies.
"Where can I find him?" John asks lowly.
"Paris." Winston shrugs. John turns around without a word.
"Where will it end?"
"When he's dead."
"And then?"
"..."
"Have you learned nothing? They'll replace him before the body is cold.
Hercules had his Hydra, you have the table. Except you'll run out of bullets before they run out of heads." John stays silent as Winston walks closer to him."Do it the smart way. Get The Table to give you your freedom."
"How?"
"Use the rules and consequences of the table against them. Challenge one of them to a single combat."
"High Table duels are a myth."
"No. They're a cold. Hard. Fact... It's also win or lose. What you say you want. A way out." John ponders the new revelation.
"The Marquis?"
"You could challenge him, though that might prove to be a bit more of a challenge than anyone else."
"Why?" Winston stays silent.
"I don't have a seat at the table." John shakes his head.
"Your family does. Get them to issue the challenge and offer you up as proxy." John explains his torn ticket that no longer ties him to the family.
"Then I suggest you get your ass to Berlin and get it mended. Or... pick a plot." John turns again, his new pit stop in mind. Before he leaves,
"Have you checked the necklace lately, John?" He freezes where he is, his heart dropping. He hasn't.
"Why, Winston?" The former manager winces as John turns to face him again.
"Check her necklace, John." Is all he says. The random comment made by Winston makes John feel guilty. He hasn't checked the necklace. Why hasn't he checked in on his daughter?
Winston pulls out a phone from his pocket and tosses it to John. John glances at Winston every so often as he works on getting the necklace's location, his breath hitching when he sees it. He glares at the smaller man.
"Paris."
"No, John, it's not a coincidence." John's hearth thrums in anger.
"He's taken my daughter. How long have you known?" His tone is accusing as he steps closer to his friend.
"He didn't kidnap her or anything, Johnathan." His brows furrow in confusion at Winston's words.
"He married her." Heavy silence and Johns labored breathing filled the open air.
"...Married?"
