Once Bitten

"Hey, My name is Athena Alvarez. I was bitten by a radioactive spider, I gained inhuman abilities that have made me an unstoppable force. And for the past 3 years I've been the only Spider-woman in my universe.

I like to draw and I have a job at a bakery.

I protect the city without getting paid which I should be getting paid, Why aren't I gettin paid? Anyways... The police see me as a vigilante but I'm also doing something that they could never do so who's countin.

I have to keep my identity a secret especially from family... They would be really disappointed...

Alvarez walked through the abandoned streets of New York City with her headphones on, lost in her own world. Little did she know that her life was about to change forever. As she made her way down a dimly lit alley, She suddenly spotted a spider among some piles of garbage, and her curiosity got the better of her. She reached out to pick up the spider, which calmly crawled into her hands.

As she examined the unusual-looking spider, it suddenly sprung to life, climbing up her arm and biting down on her wrist. She yelp at the sudden pain, dropping the spider to the ground. Looking down at her wrist, she noticed that it was already swelling up and turning a reddish-purple color.

"What the hell?" She muttered, at first she felt nothing, but as the minutes passed, she began to feel strange. feeling a sudden headache. She stumbled forward, her vision getting blurry. That's when she realized that something strange was happening to her-something that would change her life forever.

She could feel her senses become heightened, her instincts sharper. She knew she had been given powers, but she had no idea what they were.

She made her way back home, trying to process what had just happened, but she couldn't shake the thought out of her head- one that would allow her to protect the city and those she cared about. Little did she know that her journey as a superhero was about to begin.

She walked home to her apartment complex. Athena walked into her apartment, still clutching her wrist. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she made her way towards her mother's room.

Athena had always loved spiders and other insects, and Athena's parents had always been wary of her fascination with spiders, and her mother had warned her many times to stay away from them. But on this particular day, she couldn't resist the urge to pick up the spider she had found in the alley.

She wanted to tell her mother what had happened, but before she could say a word, a wave of exhaustion washed over her, and she fell into her mother's arms. Her mind was blurring, and she felt herself drifting off to sleep.

The next thing she knew, she was waking up on the couch, with her mother sitting beside her, gently brushing her hair.

"¡Hija mía! What happened?" her mother asked, her voice filled with concern.

Athena took a deep breath, trying to process what had happened. She didn't understand what was going on, but she knew that something strange had happened to her.

"I don't know, Mami. I just...I was trying to bring a spider home..." she stammered.

Her mother's face clouded with worry as Athena continued to try to explain what had happened. She knew that this was not going to be easy to understand, let alone accept, but she had to try.

Athena winced as her mom gently tugged on her wrist again. The spider bite still burned, but she didn't want to cause her mom any more worry than she already had. "Does it hurt?" her mom asked, concern etched on her face.
