Kody (KoKo) Anderson for as long as she remembers has been described as bitter. Raising a black son who is constantly in trouble at school, as a single mother contributes to that. After being failed by the system, she has no faith in men, humanity...

"Kashmir! Come on we gotta stop by big mama's house before we go to your practice." It had been two days since she came up with the money. Since it was due at practice, Kody was trying to get there early.
"I'm ready Mommy." Kash held his gym bag in his hand and smiled at the woman who constantly made shit happen for him. He raised his eyebrow slightly at her always wearing sunglasses and keeping her face turned away.
"Aight, let's go." Kody grabbed the cooler and rolled it out the front door, once Kash was outside as well she locked it and the two of them went down the stairs together. Noticing Mav was walking up to her, she sighed, "Gone and get into the car Kash." She automatically unlocked the door.
"Damn, you can't speak?" Maverick asked Kash as he walked passed him. Kash turned around and rolled his eyes almost out of his socket at the man.
"That's why I'm fucking your mom sassy ass lil nigga." Mav antagonized Kash whose mother warned against him saying anything back. Once Kash was in the car, Kody turned back to him.
"I don't even have the time to argue with you but telling my son you're fucking me is disgusting. What do you want?" Kody crossed her arms over her chest.
"You look nice. Where yall headed?" Mav asked planting kisses on Kody's neck ignoring her being mad. Kash was facing forward not even wanting to look back. "Kashmir's football practice. We gotta go though." She tried to wiggle out of his grip but he only tightened it.
"You owe me. One more night with you and then we done." There was just something about her that he couldn't shake and if he didn't have to, he wasn't.
"Good. I'll let you know when we get back home." She pushed passed Mav leaving him to watch her walk away. The nigga couldn't even put the cooler in the car for her and that was simply the shit that turned her off about Maverick.
After finally settling, she started the car and rubbed her forehead, "Mommy. Maverick is a mean man."
"What you know about him being a mean man?" Kody looked through the rearview mirror, hoping he wouldn't ask her what Mav meant by what he said.
"Mason said he beats on his mommy. It would be best if you stayed away from him Mommy. I don't want him to beat on you." Kash's demeanor changed and Kody turned around in her seat.
"Hey! Don't you know yo mama kicks ass? You not my daddy, okay? I protect you." Kody took her son's small hand into hers and lightly squeezed it. "Then who protects you?"
