Two years later...
Brandy and Whiskers were at the beach, having fun. Brandy have lying on her chair, her eyes protected with sunglasses and sipping coconut water. Whiskers, with the assistance of his friend, Ed the giant otter, was building a sandcastle and according to him at least, it was to be the biggest sandcastle in history.
Brandy lifted her sunglasses to check Whiskers and Ed. She chucked a bit as they finished one wall of the base. "They're never going to finish it. They'll give up soon." Brandy said as she put her glasses back down.
"Hello Brandy." a familiar voice called out. Brandy looked right. It was her friend! Lola Boa, the pink and purple-striped boa constrictor. "Hey Lola!" Brandy replied. "You finally made it!
"Yes, I couldn't find Meryl and Sheryl so I decided to leave without them. Their bickering and fighting are wearing thin."
"Tell me about it. They're grown up now and it's not your job to discipline them."
"You can say again. The squawking, punching, and kicking; they really got to try and start getting along. Anyway, what's up?"
Brandy turned back to Whiskers and Ed who just finished the first wall of the sandcastle and started building the second wall. "I'm relaxed in the warm sunlight," Brandy replied. "Whiskers and Ed are building what they claim to be the largest sandcastle in history. They're never going to finish it."
"You're not going to help them?" asked Loa.
"What? What they're doing is impossible. Nobody has the balls to build a sandcastle that enormous."
"BRANDY! Whiskers has helped you with some things, yet you won't help him build a sandcastle? Even I doubt this a two-person job."
Brandy was still unsure about this. "Okay, if you're concerned, you go help them."
"Uh, no hands. Remember?"
Brandy and Lola continued to argue until Whiskers stepped in. "Hey what's going on girls?" he asked. The dog and snake looked at the rabbit, curious at what was going on.
"Hey Whiskers," Lola replied. "We were just talking."
"Yes. We were just chatting. Nothing special."
"I see," Whiskers said. "Well Ed and I are taking a break and are cooling off in the water. C'mon Ed."
"Right-o Mr. Whiskers." replied Ed.
As Whiskers and Ed dove into the water, Brandy and Lola continued on with their heated discussion. "Look Brandy," Lola said with tail folded around her neck. "You really need to stop putting yourself above Whiskers. Sure, you might have saved him, good lord knows how many times. But there is a difference between saving someone and being there for someone. You just don't seem to understand that. Like that time, you put Whiskers in danger by placing his dirty spoiled steak in his jumpsuit, attracting pumas, nearly killing him?
"Lola, that was just one time," Brandy said.
"Okay, okay," Lola continued. "How about that other time when it was Spring Cleaning Day and rather than do your own chores, you decided to take advantage of Whisker's hypnosis and make him do them for you once you discovered he hypnotized himself with his own pinwheel?"
"Okay, it's not my fault that I was not raised to do chores myself."
Lola grew angry and snapped, "THERE IS NOTHING THAT IS EVER YOUR FAULT! ARE YOU LISTENING TO YOURSELF?! THAT'S THE STORY OF YOUR LIFE AND I'M SICK OF THIS!"
As the conversation grew tenser and tenser, Ed jumped in screaming, "HELP! HELP! HELP!" Brandy and Lola stopped arguing and looked Ed. "MS. BRANDY, MS. LOLA! MR. WHISKERS IS IN TROUBLE! HE PINNED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN AND I CAN'T GET HIM OUT!"
The mutt and the snake looked at each other and back at the otter.
"Quick! Show us Ed!" Brandy replied.
Ed pointed to a long bamboo sticking out of the ocean. "See that? That is where Mr. Whiskers is and he's breathing through that bamboo. I'm not sure how long he can keep it up."
"Fast thinking Ed," Lola replied.
"Ok, I got an idea," Brandy said as she pulled out some rope. "Ed, take the lasso, swim back to Whiskers and wrap it around him, and once you do, tug on the rope and I'll pull him out."
"You got it Ms. Brandy." Ed replied as he took the lasso end and dove back into the water with it.
"Lola," Brandy added, "Just in case if something goes wrong, wrap yourself around me and that tree right there to help me pull him out."
Lola nodded. After a minute, Brandy felt three tugs on the rope, and she immediately pulled on the rope. She grimaced at the strength of rope. "Ed was right," Brandy said. "Whiskers is pinned but where?" After pulling to no avail, she summoned Lola to step in and she wrapped her tail around Brandy's waist and her neck around a nearby coconut tree.
"READY! PULL!" Brandy shouted. Both girls strained as they moved back, and the rope finally began to move. Brandy and Lola tugged and tugged until they saw two white things sticking out of the water. It was the long floppy ears of Whiskers. The girls tugged and tugged until he was finally out of the water with Ed carrying him on his back. The rabbit was not unconscious, but he was out of breath from breathing through the bamboo. Brandy pulled Whiskers back to the shore as he kept gasping for air.
Then she dropped the rope as she and Lola raced to Whiskers and Ed lying on the foamy wet sand. Brandy dropped to her knees and shook Whiskers. "HEY WHISKERS! ARE YOU OKAY!?" The rabbit gasped one last time before answering. "Yeah, I'm fine, if wasn't for Ed, I would've been a dead plankton."
"Whiskers, Ed did not save you I did, as I always do."
"I beg your pardon Ms. Brandy," Ed interrupted. "But Mr. Whiskers is right. I saved my best buddy."
"What are you talking about Ed?" Brandy impatiently asked, "I gave you the rope so I can pull him out!"
"True, but then I removed the lasso from him because he was out of breath!
Lola could not stand this anymore. "STOP IT! STOP IT! NO MORE!" she screamed. "WHISKERS NEARLY DROWNED IN THE OCEAN! AND YOU TWO ARE ARGUING WHO SHOULD GET THE CREDIT FOR SAVING HIM INSTEAD CONGRAUATING EACH OTHER? YOU NOT GOING TO ASK HOW IT HAPPENED?"
"Oh yeah," Whiskers interrupted. "Look what I found!" He dug into his swimsuit and pulled a large white and red rounded-rectangle shaped piece of metal with some black bold words on it.
