]Chapter 19[

Shadow was just wandering around when he saw Avalon. He wasn't in control though so Nightmare followed Avalon. He followed her closely.
Please don't hurt her. Shadow begged.
Oh but it won't be me that will be seen as the bad guy, Shadow. You know that.
Avalon turned on her heel suddenly. "What do you want?"
"Oh now, now, I was only following you. No harm in that, is there?"
"Shut up." Avalon went to keep walking but a Nightmare controlled Shadow grabbed her arm. "Uh uh uh." He said. "Your not going anywhere."
Panic flashed in her eyes. "Let me go."
"Hmm, what about... No?"
"What do you want from me, Dream?" Avalon asked.
It hurt Shadow when Avalon would glare at him with hatred. But he knew that he could never reveal his face, not when Nightmare was always watching.
"Heck who is that behind that stupid mask of yours anyway?"
Nightmare seemed panicked.
It gave Shadow long enough to gain full control in time for the mask to be pulled from his head.
Avalon stepped back in shock. "What....?" She teared up. "Shadow...? But... How....?"
"I'm sorry Avalon..... But-" He was cut off by her suddenly hugging him. "What are you.....?"
"For years, I've thought you were dead...."
"Yes.... I know...."
Avalon reached up and gently laid a hand on his cheek. "I've missed you..."
"I've missed you too..." Shadow replied but he felt Nightmare trying to gain control. "I'm sorry, I-I... I'm so sorry..." He picked up the mask and ran.
"What-SHADOW?" Avalon was left standing alone.

When Avalon got home, she was nearly knocked over by her children.
Daniel looked up. "So. Did you find what your looking for?"
"Yeah..."
