"Ava!! No, no, no... for the love of God, no! This can't be happening again!" Beatrice got up from the corner where she had been thrown and ran stumbling towards Ava's body, lying motionless on the cold floor. "Ava, don't leave me here alone. Not again!"
Lilith, Camila and Yasmine watched that scene in the most absolute silence, still getting up from the ground, for having been thrown away with all that storm they had just witnessed, trying to understand what had happened.
Beatrice took Ava in her arms and looked at that beautiful face with her eyes closed, her mouth slightly open, unresponsive. She cried desperately calling for Ava, in an attempt to make her wake up. She hugged Ava close to her chest and inside her heart came to curse that God who had taken Ava from her life. It wasn't possible what her fate was, to grieve the loss of Ava so many times over. Was it a punishment from Heaven for being who she was, for being what she was... for loving who she loved?
"Yasmine... didn't you say there was a way Ava wouldn't have to dispose of her own life? Why didn't you tell her before this all happened? Why did you let her get to this?" Camila spoke softly, between tears, suffering from the heartbreaking scene when she saw Beatrice crying with her beloved Ava in her arms.
It was really a sad, painful scene, it cut the heart of anyone who witnessed that moment. The desperation in Beatrice's cries hurt the heart and made sadness flow through the eyes of the sisters.
"I didn't say it because I didn't need to, Camila."
"How did you not need it? Aren't you seeing the same as me? Can't you see Beatrice desolate, hugging Ava's lifeless body?"
"Ava's life would be consumed if she entered the portal... yet here she is, on this side, and the portal is sealed."
"I don't understand..." Lilith tried to understand what was going on there, eyes fixed and teary on Ava and Beatrice, a lump in her throat that almost prevented her from speaking.
"Ava is safe, sisters... take a look for yourselves."
Yasmine was pointing in the direction of Ava and Beatrice, catching Camila and Lilith's attention. Beatrice couldn't see, eyes narrowed in tears of dismay and hopelessness, sobbing incessantly, wishing that cruel God who had taken her Ava would also take her now... but there was a small point of golden light, which began to shine between Ava's chest and Beatrice's.
Camila rubbed the tears away from her eyes. Was she seeing things? No. She was not. The small glow was accompanied by a slight swell of lungs that showed Ava's breathing, a barely audible moan—especially to Beatrice, who was breaking down in tears—... Ava was alive!
"Bea... Bea, look!" Camila was trying to make Beatrice see what they saw.
It didn't work, Beatrice didn't listen to anyone else, immersed in her pain, wishing to be taken away by death.
"You're going to wet all my clothes like this, Bea..."
It was Ava's weak voice that brought Bea out of it almost like an electric shock. Beatrice pulled back just enough to see Ava's bright, dark eyes flutter open again, still holding her in her arms.
"Ava? Are you... are you here... alive? My love, you are alive!"
Beatrice hugged Ava again so tightly that it made her moan softly, but Ava didn't care. She just smiled, with her heart warming and beating faster again. Beatrice had called her "my love"? Those two words erased any pain Ava might be feeling at that moment.
Beatrice looked back at Ava, as if she couldn't believe she was being given another chance. The two of them was being given another chance. She caressed the soft skin of Ava's face, placed her lips on her forehead and left a kiss of joy and relief to have Ava with her again.
