A young Kalla was back in the bloodshed tent from that day so long ago, her deep blue eyes wide with fear as she stared at the sight in front of her with so many emotions whirling inside of her. Comprehending them all at once was near impossible for the terrified little girl.

Her best friend, Kuraya, stood beside her, just as scared as she was. Any child would be scared to see a dead body, nonetheless the dead body of a woman well-known for the care and love she brought to the tribe.

"Mom!" Kalla yelled, petrified. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. No— she didn't want to believe what she was seeing.

The man who stood above the woman's lifeless body turned his head to see the two young girls. They both trembled in fear as they watched the man fully turn around to face the both of them.

"I'd advise you both to run along and get away as fast as you can." He told them in a low, threatening voice. "Now."

Kalla, still dealing with a jumble of emotions, stepped towards the man, her young features hardening into a fierce glare as tears began to build up in her eyes. "What did you do to my mom?!" She demanded, her tone filled with a hatred that was unusual from a child her age.

Unpleased by the young girls attitude, the man narrowed his eyes at her. "I would watch your tone, young lady. Before I do something you'll regret."

Kalla only fumed even more, taking a step closer. Kuraya attempted to reach out for her, but it was no use. "Don't tell me what to do, you monster!" Kalla seethed, the tears previously rimming her eyes now sliding down her cheeks. "My mom is dead because of you!"

A scowl formed on the man's face as he raised his hands, a murderous glint in his amber eyes as he met the small girls ocean blue ones. They were a pair of eyes Kalla swore she would never forget, burned into her brain against her will for the rest of eternity.

"Well, if it upsets you so much, why don't you join her?" He exclaimed, a blast of fire quickly forming in his hands as he threw them forward towards the girl.

Everything felt as if it was going in slow motion as the glowing red and orange ball of heat shot towards the girl.

"Kalla!" A voice could be heard yelling out her name.

Fire.

Water.

"No!"

...

Kalla's eyes shot open as she bolted up from where she laid, her breathing rapid and uneven. She couldn't tell what was sweat and what was tears as she wiped at her damp face with her hands in frustration. She quickly looked around, finding that everyone was still fast asleep in the campsite they had made for themselves a few hours prior.

She looked to the sky above to see the sun was just rising. Its radiant, golden glow peaked out from the horizon and the sky was painted in beautiful shades of pink, orange, and yellow, all mixed in with the classic light blue sky. It was a beautiful sight for anyone who was awake to admire it and Kalla usually would, but she couldn't
