the minds of teenage girls is another dimension. its safe to say that the average girl today has the sources to find out more than ever, and do more harm than ever. my friends explore with drugs and live through the consequences of life more then what's expected.
a random, average party with sixteen year old girls today is filled with strong liquor and lightweight girls. obviously that combo doesn't always end well, and with a touch of weed or ecstasy it close to never end the way it was planned to.
a friend of mine told me how she ended up swimming in the ocean, not able to feel the water, while high in ecstasy for the first time. it's truly shocking to hear how fast innocent teens can end up in situations where there's life and death on the line.
before i heard her story, i was naive enough to think that only older, dumber, and brainless teenagers were the ones to get high and end up in those kind of situations. my friend is nothing but good, but thrives in some bad friend groups. she longs for the thrill and excitement she gets by not being safe.
the way that teenagers use and think about drugs today is nowhere near what society and the media shows. the tension and short time happiness it brings is downplayed by the obvious risk of taking it. maybe that's for the better, or maybe the real stories needs to be told. maybe society needs to evolve around the fact that young adults today use drugs, instead of denying it. one thing is clear: it surely doesn't show the high girls in the water or the drunk boys that didn't help them up.
