It had been a week since their conversation and things were smooth. Work was good and they were in their own bubble.
As the group was sitting at the table, finishing off a meal, the alarms started blaring and people were on their feet in an instant. The speaker blasted the information. Structural fire, sending all units.
The next sentence made Buck stop in his tracks.
They made it to the building and got to work, Buck was thoroughly annoyed and the rest of the team had a good guess as to why.
The building was long gone. The whole internal structure had collapsed and everything inside was scorched.
Eddie walked over to Buck put a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.
"What a great way to start the week." Buck said as he stared at the remanence of what used to be his apartment building, now just a pile of ash and burnt rubble.
