Fou was at their job again (how many times am I going to say this lamo-) when a thought suddenly occurred to them. Within stories (well fanfiction at any case), characters can often do what they want. And, well. This is a story about the qualities of stories. So what would happen if they just decided to, say, not do their job?
What an intriguing thought.
Fou decided to go to Punc first. He had introduced himself as "Punc. Punc Tuation.". He was rather important, along with Gram Mar - his boyfriend. (Yes, everything is gay in this bc why tf not).
Fou slowly went up to the two and tapped them on the back.
"Excuse me." They said quietly, becoming visible.
Gram turned around. "Yes?"
"I was thinking, what would happen if we just decided to... not do our jobs?"
"Well the whole story would fall into chaos that's what." replied Punc gruffly.
A small smirk creeped onto Fou's lips - a side they didn't show often.
"What if... we decided to do it in our own story?"
Gram and Punc's expressions changed, catching on to what Fou was suggesting.
"Well then," said Gram, "I'd say we call the others."

A few hours later and everyone had decided to stop doing their jobs after a countdown.
"10......9.........8..........7...-"
"OH JUST GET ON WITH IT ALREADY!"
"Alright, alright. 3........2.......1."
And all hell broke loose.
