“What?! A quirk assessment test?” Everyone fumed in confusion except me. We were all gathered at the field for a test that Mr. Aizawa will be in charge of. “But orientation... We're gonna miss it.” A brown-haired girl spoke. “If you want to make the big leaps, you can't waste your time on pointless ceremonies.” Mr. Aizawa stated.
“Here at U.A., we're not tethered to traditions. That means that I get to run my class however I see fit. You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives.” He said and he pulled out his device from his pocket. “...But you've never got to use quirks in physical exams before. The country's still trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel. It's not rational. One day, the Ministry of Education will learn.” He said and turned to the blonde-haired boy.
“Bakugou, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam...” He started, making the rest of the class including me turn our heads to him. “...What was your farthest distance throw of the softball when you were in junior high?” He questions.
“67 meters, I think.” Bakugou said.
“Right, try doing it with your Quirk.” Aizawa said.
Bakugou was now inside the circle that Mr. Aizawa told him.
“Anything goes, just stay in the circle. Go on, you're wasting our time.” He said.
Bakagou stared at him blankly and started stretching. “Alright, man. You asked for it.” He said and got in position. He threw the softball with his quirk, sending it up high through the air. “All of you need to know your maximum capabilities.” Mr. Aizawa said.
His device suddenly beeped. He looked at it, then turned in our direction.
“It's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a pro hero.” He said as he showed us the device, showing 705.2 meters on the device.
The entire class, except me, gasped in astonishment. “Woah! 705 meters? Are you kidding me?” A Pikachu-like-haired boy questioned in shock.
"I wanna go! That looks like fun!" The pink-skinned girl exclaimed.
“This is what I'm talking about! Using our quirks as much as we want!” A black-haired boy said and grinned.
“So this looks fun, huh?” Mr.Aizawa asked.
“You have 3 years here to become a hero. You think it's all gonna be games and playtime?” He questioned once more. His lips then curled into a smirk. “Idiots. Today you'll compete in 8 physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none, and will be expelled immediately.” He stated.
‘I figured this would happen.’ I thought with my usual stoic expression on my face.
“As I said, I get to decide how this class runs... understand? If that's a problem, you can head home right now.” He added.
“You can't send one of us home! I mean, we just got here! Even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!” The brown-haired girl stepped up.
“Oh, and you think natural disasters are? Or power-hungry villains? Hmm? Or catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities? No! The world is full of unfairness. It's a hero's job to try to bring back that unfairness. If you wanna be a pro, you're gonna have to push yourself to the brink. For the next 3 years, U.A. will throw one terrible hardship after another. So go beyond. Plus Ultra style. Show me that it's no mistake that you're here.” Aizawa said.
“Now then, we're just wasting time by talking... Let the games begin.” He added.
